Itinerary
- Day 1
Fez to Todra Gorges
Your hotel or riad pickup happens at 8am, then you'll head south through the Middle Atlas Mountains toward Ifrane. This area gets called 'the little Moroccan Switzerland' for good reason. You'll stop to photograph the famous Atlas lion statue, and after that, the cedar forests are where you can see those thousand-year-old trees and get close to the Gibraltar monkeys. After lunch in Midelt, the drive continues to Todra Gorges where you're staying overnight in a riad. If the weather cooperates, an evening walk through the gorge under moonlight is possible, which creates a different feel than seeing it during the day.

- Day 2
Todra Gorges to Merzouga Desert
After breakfast, you'll explore Todra Gorges at 1,350m altitude with its surrounding palm grove. Walking through the famous palm grove in Todra Valley, you'll notice the landscape shifts as you pass kasbahs and ksour in ochre, red and mauve tones. From there, you head through Tineghir to Erfoud, a city known for fossils scattered throughout the area. Rissani market is next, where nomads gather to trade cattle and goods, then you make your way to Merzouga for the night in a riad that faces the desert dunes.

- Day 3
Merzouga Desert
This full desert day starts with a generous breakfast before you travel around Erg Chebbi, which features the Great Dune of Morocco rising over 250 meters high. You'll drive routes connected to the old Paris-Dakar rally, creating that off-road feeling. Tissardmin oasis comes next to see fossils, and then a visit to a nomadic settlement gives you insight into how people live out here. A panoramic viewpoint lets you take in Erg Chebbi from above, then the village of Khamlia offers spiritual Gnawa music and tea. Later, a dromedary camel ride takes you through the dunes at sunset, and you'll spend the night in traditional Haimas (tents made of dromedary hair) in the desert under the stars.

Merzouga Desert to Fez
Early morning means walking to the highest dune to catch the sunrise over the desert landscape. After breakfast, you return to Merzouga by 4x4 or dromedary to rejoin your guide. Heading north takes you through the Tafilalet Palm Grove, one of the world's largest with 20km of palm trees fed by the Ziz Valley river from the High Atlas. You'll stop to view the valley from above and see the town of Aoufous. A rest stop in Midelt in the heart of the Atlas works for lunch, then passing through the Cedar Forest again on the return journey. Arriving in Fes around 6pm concludes your tour with a hotel transfer.
