Itinerary
- Day 1
Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
Early morning flight to Lukla takes you over the Himalayas with incredible aerial views of the mountains below. Once you land, you'll meet your trekking team and start walking toward Phakding. The trail goes through dense forests where you'll cross suspension bridges, pass prayer wheels and local settlements. By late afternoon you reach Chheplung village and your overnight guesthouse.

Phakding to Namche Bazaar
You'll trek upriver following the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers, then cross the Hillary Bridge as the trail climbs. As you get higher and approach Namche Bazaar, the major peaks start appearing. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Taweche all come into view throughout the day, giving you your first clear look at these iconic mountains.

- Day 3
Namche Bazaar
Today is a rest day at Namche Bazaar where you can stay active without pushing hard. The Visitor Center here teaches you about Sherpa culture and the local wildlife and plants. If you want more movement, head to nearby Khumjung to see the monastery that holds the famous yeti scalp and check out Hillary School. Spending time walking around town helps your body adjust to the altitude.

- Day 4
Namche Bazaar to Tengboche
This moderate trek to Tengboche takes you through villages and forests with the mountain views getting better as you climb. The trail rolls up and down, and you might spot musk deer, Himalayan Thar, or colorful pheasants along the way. You'll pass several monasteries, and throughout the day Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam frame the landscape around you.

Tengboche to Dingboche
This trek is relatively straightforward until near the end when there's a steep climb. You'll walk through Somare and Orsho villages, then the trail forks left toward Pheriche Village. After crossing a bridge, the path gets steep as you climb up to Dingboche, a higher altitude settlement with several lodges where you'll spend the night.

Dingboche
Another acclimatization day at higher altitude, but you'll stay moving rather than resting in your room. You have options depending on what you want to do. Trek to Chhukung and Island Peak for views of Taboche, Lhotse, and Nuptse, or take a shorter 2 to 3 hour walk to Nangkartshang Gompa. Alternatively, climb to Chukhung Ri where you can see Mount Makalu, the world's 5th highest peak.

Dingboche to Lobuche
One of the most beautiful days on the trek as you head toward Lobuche through scenic mountain terrain. You'll pass Pheriche with its Trekkers Aid Post, then reach Chukpo Lari which has moving memorials for climbers who died on Everest. Continuing to Lobuche, you can watch the sunset over Nuptse, making this a memorable afternoon and evening.

Lobuche to Everest Base Camp to Gorakshep
This is a long 8 hour day where you'll trek to Everest Base Camp at 5364 meters. The route goes over rocky ground with glacial ponds and icebergs visible, then climbs through meadows and up moraine stone steps. You reach Gorakshep first, then push on to the base camp itself to experience this historic place. After spending time there, you'll head back down to Gorakshep for the night.

- Day 9
Gorakshep to Kala Patthar to Pheriche
An early start gets you to Kala Patthar at 5545 meters in about 2 hours, where prayer flags, cairns, a small stupa, and a weather station mark the spot. From this viewpoint you see Pumori, Nuptse, Changtse, Ama Dablam, Taweche, Everest, and Kantega all around you. After taking in the views, you'll return to Gorakshep for breakfast, then descend down to Pheriche by evening.

Pheriche to Namche Bazaar
Coming down through valleys and pasturelands makes breathing easier as you lose altitude. The trail takes you through Tengboche and into the picturesque Monjo valley before following your path back toward Lukla. Ama Dablam stays in view much of the day. Hillsides covered with rhododendrons and juniper trees pass by, and you might see pheasants, mountain goats, or other wildlife.

- Day 11
Namche Bazaar to Lukla
A steep downhill day back to Lukla where the air gets easier to breathe with each step down. You'll trek through Sherpa villages and cross the Tenzing and Hillary suspension bridge, then walk beside the Dudh Koshi River passing through forests and small settlements. By evening you're back in Lukla where you can celebrate finishing the trek with your team and explore the local bazaar.

Lukla to Kathmandu
An early morning 35 minute flight from Tenzing Hillary Airport takes you back to Kathmandu with final aerial views of the Khumbu region. Your guide picks you up when you land and transfers you to your hotel where you can rest and recover. That evening there's a farewell dinner to celebrate completing the Everest Base Camp trek.
