Itinerary
- Day 1
Bucharest to Brasov
Meet your guide at Bucharest North Railway Station around noon, then board the group train at 1 pm. The route takes you through the Prahova Valley and the Carpathian Mountains with nice views along the way. When you arrive in Brasov, you'll get a private transfer to your hotel in the city center. After settling in, take a short walk to get a feel for this medieval city and its layout.

- Day 2
Piatra Craiului National Park - Magura
A short transfer gets you to Piatra Craiului National Park where your hiking day begins. The trail starts with a steady uphill climb through forest paths. Around midday, you'll reach Cabana Curmatura for lunch, where they serve local soup and apple pie with views out over the valley. From there, it's downhill through open hills and forest, following an old path through the Jurassic Zarnesti Gorge. By late afternoon you'll arrive in Magura, a traditional village where you'll stay for two nights in a guesthouse.

Magura - Bran Castle - Magura
This morning you'll hike from Magura starting through green pastures and traditional farmland. A shady forest path takes you uphill to a hilltop with good views of the surrounding area. Lunch is at a hillside spot overlooking a remote farmhouse. After eating, the trail descends steeply for about 500 meters with views of Bran Castle appearing below you. You'll spend the afternoon exploring Bran Castle, walking through its Gothic rooms, secret passages, and wooden ladders at your own pace. The outside grounds and mountain views are worth checking out too. Then a private transfer brings you back to Magura for the night.

- Day 4
Piatra Craiului Mountains Hiking
You'll continue hiking at the foot of the Piatra Craiului Mountains through pastures, sheepfolds, and forests. During the day, there's a stop at a sheepfold where you can taste traditional Burduf cheese and learn from your guide about how it's made (this is available if animals are around until mid-September). The hike finishes in a scattered village surrounded by mountain landscapes where you'll stay the night.

Traditional Villages and Orthodox Churches
After breakfast, you'll hike through local villages where traditional ways of life continue. The guide will show you one of the oldest houses in the area, nearly 200 years old, and stop at a small museum in a local house about the villages and their history. Depending on timing, you'll visit one or two Orthodox churches. The day ends at your guesthouse run by a well-known chef who prepares all meals from traditional local ingredients.

Bucegi National Park
This is a longer hiking day starting with a slow, steady climb to the ridge top. You'll pass many Sherpa huts on the way up to La Bisericuta, where views of the Bucegi Mountains and Bangaleasa Valley open up. Spend time here for photos. The descent is gradual into the valley and into Bucegi National Park. If you want more distance, there's an optional longer route to a second ridge and lunch at Poiana Gutanu meadows, which takes about 5.5 hours total, covers 18 km, and involves roughly 850 meters of elevation change and descent.

Bear Sanctuary - Fortified Church - Bucharest
After a short transfer, you'll visit the bear sanctuary and hear stories about the bears you'll see there. Next comes an easy short hike to a fortified church that reflects the Saxon heritage from 13th-century settlement in Transylvania. The priest, a young enthusiastic man, will walk you through the church's history and share local specialties. Later, you'll drive back toward Bucharest with a stop to see Peles Castle from the outside. Your evening in the capital is free to do as you like.

Bucharest
After breakfast at your hotel, explore Bucharest on your own using the roadbook provided. The city was known as the 'Eastern Paris' between the world wars and shows influences from medieval Ottoman occupation, neoclassical French architecture, and communist-era building. You'll discover the different layers of the capital at your own pace. The trip concludes after breakfast.
