Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakech to Tizi Mzik to Tizi Oussem
Your driver will pick you up in Marrakech and take you to Imlil, where your trek begins. From there, you'll head up to Tizi Mzik mountain pass, then work your way down past Ighouliden waterfalls and through the Azzaden valley. The route takes you to the azib Tamsoulte summer houses along the way, and you'll finish the day at Tizi Oussem village where you're staying at a Berber guest house. Plan on about 6.5 hours of walking, so it's a solid day on your feet.

Tizi Oussem to Imlil
After breakfast, you'll head down to Ait Aissa and cross the Tizi Oudite mountain pass which sits at 2200m elevation. The path continues down toward Malat and Agersioual villages where you'll stop for lunch. From there, it's another section of walking to reach Imlil village for your overnight stay at a guest house. Expect around 5 to 6 hours of trekking throughout the day.

Imlil to Ouarzazate to Dades Gorge
You'll leave Imlil at 8am in a modern air-conditioned vehicle for a 3 hour drive over the Atlas mountains. Along the way, you'll stop at the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou to see the historic fortress town. Then it's about 1 more hour to Ouarzazate where you'll break for lunch at local cafes and have time to look around. After that, you're heading to the Dades Valley and checking into your guesthouse for the night. Both dinner and breakfast are included with your stay.

Dades Gorge to Merzouga to Erg Chebbi Desert Camp
You'll travel through the Dades Valley today, passing Dades Gorge and Todra Gorge on your way toward Merzouga. Once you arrive, you'll meet your camel and ride for about 1.5 hours into the dunes, timing it so you reach the camp at Erg Chebbi around sunset. The evening includes hot mint tea, a meal prepared locally, drum music, and time for conversation with your guides. You can stay in traditional bivouac tents or sleep out under the stars if you prefer.

Erg Chebbi Desert Camp to Marrakech
An early wake-up gets you on a camel for a sunrise ride lasting roughly 1.5 hours, exploring more of the desert before heading back to Merzouga. Once there, you'll have breakfast and a chance to shower. Then starts your return journey through the stony desert and back over the Atlas mountains with stops for photos, exploring, and lunch. You should be back in Marrakech between 5pm and 6pm.
