Rome
You'll arrive in Rome and get transferred to your hotel, where a guide will fill you in on what to know. Later in the evening, head over to Via Cavour to check out the neighborhood and find a place to eat among all the dining options there.

- Day 2
Rome
Your morning starts with a three-hour guided tour that mixes walking through Imperial Rome with a bus ride showing you the Colosseum, Imperial Forums, and Circus Maximus. By around 11:00 a.m., you'll reach Vatican City where you can choose to visit the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel if you want. That evening, head to Trastevere for dinner, and you'll be back at the hotel around 8:30 p.m.

- Day 3
Rome to Florence
You'll head north from Rome through rolling countryside toward Florence. Once you arrive, start at Piazzale Michelangelo for those sweeping views over the city and the Duomo. Then join a guided walk through the historic center, hitting Ponte Vecchio first to see the goldsmiths' shops lining the bridge, followed by the Duomo with its distinctive dome. After that you'll swing through Piazza della Signoria and get a feel for the main square with its sculptures and palazzo. The afternoon opens up so you can wander back to areas that caught your eye or duck into smaller churches and galleries on your own. By evening, you'll have plenty of restaurant options nearby ranging from casual spots to more formal dining if you want something special for dinner.

Florence to Venice
This day takes you across the Apennine Mountains and into Venice. After arriving, you'll take a boat across the Giudecca Canal to reach the Island of Venice. A guide shows you around St. Mark's Square, then you'll visit the Murano Glass Factory to watch glassmakers work with traditional techniques. You'll have free time to explore on your own, and your accommodation is in the Mestre district.

Leaving Venice, you're headed toward Austria through the mountains. You'll reach Innsbruck with time to walk around the historic center and have lunch. From there, scenic mountain roads take you through to the ski village of Kitzbuehel for some exploring. Later, you'll continue on to Salzburg, arriving by evening.

- Day 6
Salzburg - Lake Traunsee - Vienna
Start your morning in Salzburg, checking out Mozart's city with its Renaissance and Baroque architecture and the impressive castle overlooking it all. You'll travel through lakes and mountains to St. Wolfgang, a site known for pilgrimages. After that, head to Traunkirchen on Traunsee Lake and take an included boat ride that passes four castles before stopping in Gmunden. From there, it's on to Vienna where you'll arrive in the evening.
