Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival at Napo River Lodge

You'll fly into Coca and then get driven to a private dock where a covered boat takes you down the Napo River for two hours to reach the jungle lodge. Once you arrive, you'll meet people from the local Kichwa Añangu Community and get settled into your room. After that, the afternoon is yours to choose from two options: either hike up to a 40-meter observation tower to spot wildlife and catch the sunset from above, or take a kayak out on the river to watch the jungle sunset from the water instead.

  2. Day 2

Parrot Clay Lick and Kichwa Culture

Start early after breakfast and head out by motorized canoe to the Parrot Clay Lick on the Napo River in the Yasuní Biosphere Reserve. You'll look for blue-headed, yellow-crowned, and dark-headed parrots along with parakeets. Then walk the Parakeet Trail to a forest viewpoint where you can get closer looks at up to five parrot species, and if you're lucky, spot howler monkeys, tapirs, or jaguars. Later, visit the Kury Muyu intercultural center to learn about Kichwa culture, music, dances, and handicrafts directly from local women. In the afternoon, take a boat trip on Añangu Creek to see monkeys, caimans, and giant otters. By evening, you'll board an ancestral catamaran on the Napo River to hear Kichwa legends and traditional songs while enjoying roasted snacks.

Authentic Ecuador was amazing. They handled everything and booked us in beautiful and charming places. Our tour guide, Milton was fantastic. He never pushed us but encouraged us to keep going. I would highly recommend this company and Milton as a guide.

We LOVED our experience at the Yasuni National Park! We felt very well taken care of during our stay there. It was a perfect mix of educational, adventurous, and relaxing. Being fully immersed in the community was so wonderful, as we were able to learn about their culture and participate in it in such a hands-on way. This was one of the coolest experiences of our lives!
