- Day 1
Merano
You'll arrive in Merano at your own pace and get settled into your accommodation. This is your chance to relax after travel, walk around town if you feel like it, and prepare for the hiking week ahead. The town itself is pleasant to wander through, with shops and cafes if you want to grab something to eat.
Landmarks Merano - Day 2
Passeiertal Valley
Head into Passeiertal Valley this morning for a 5-hour hike through one of South Tyrol's most varied valleys. You'll gain 430m and lose 850m along the way. This area has deep roots in local history and culture, and the landscape shows off different terrain throughout the day. Bring plenty of water and snacks for the descent.

Landmarks Passeiertal Valley - Day 3
Dolomites Views
Today's hike lasts about 7 hours with views that stretch across the Dolomite peaks to your east and the Ötztal and Sarntal Alps to the north. The route involves 220m of climbing and a significant 1100m descent, so take your time on the way down and wear good hiking boots. This longer day packs a lot of scenery.

- Day 4
Bolzano Region
This morning you'll leave the northern section of the E5 trail and head through forests and meadows toward the southern section. The hike takes about 5.5 hours with 650m ascent and 270m descent. From your vantage point on the route, Bolzano comes into view below, offering a different perspective on the city and the valley it sits in.

Landmarks Bolzano - Day 5
Bletterbachschlucht Gorge
Starting from the pilgrimage site Maria Weißenstein, you'll hike into Kössertal valley and then down into the Bletterbachschlucht gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that drops about 400 meters. The 5-hour route involves 500m ascent and 850m descent. The gorge itself is dramatic and worth taking time to see.

Landmarks Maria Weißenstein Bletterbachschlucht - Day 6
South Tyrol Provincial Border
Today's hike follows the provincial border between South Tyrol and the neighboring region, offering excellent views down into the Adige Valley. You'll be on the trail for about 5 hours, climbing 800m and descending 580m. The elevation changes are noticeable on this day, so pace yourself accordingly.

Landmarks Adige Valley - Day 7
South Tyrol to Trento
You'll walk through quiet mixed oak forests on well-marked paths, crossing from South Tyrol into Trentino without any formal border crossing. The route takes about 5.5 hours with 380m ascent and 990m descent. After passing Bait dei Tinoti on the ridge, you'll reach Lago Santo, a striking blue lake surrounded by dark forest. From there, catch the public bus to Trento to finish the day.
