Itinerary
- Day 1
Lima
You'll arrive at the airport and get transferred to your hotel, with a welcome meeting happening at 2 pm. After that, walk through downtown Lima to see Plaza Mayor and the Saint Francis Monastery catacombs. Head to Alameda de Chabuca Granda to try street food including Peruvian doughnuts. This evening, dinner takes you to one of the city's top restaurants where you'll have views overlooking ancient ruins.

- Day 2
Lima to Puerto Maldonado to Amazon Rainforest
Fly to Puerto Maldonado and take a bus to the port, then board motorized canoes into the Amazon rainforest. You'll look for macaws, herons, alligators and capybaras along the way. After arriving at Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion (set within a 380-hectare private reserve), have lunch and walk the Concepcion Trails with a guide. Later, take a twilight river boat ride to spot caimans. Dinner features local Amazon ingredients from the a la carte menu.

- Day 3
Amazon Rainforest
After breakfast, paddle across Lake Sandoval in a dugout wooden canoe while watching for red howler monkeys, giant river otters and colorful macabre. Lunch comes next, and then you can walk the 344-meter Inkaterra Canopy Walkway with suspension bridges to see toucans, woodpeckers, monkeys and three-toed sloths. In the evening, join a night walk to see nocturnal wildlife or relax at the spa before group dinner.

Amazon to Cusco
Travel back to Puerto Maldonado and fly to Cusco, arriving early afternoon. Your leader takes you through the city starting at Plaza de Armas. You'll visit the Cusco Cathedral (UNESCO World Heritage site) built on top of an Inca palace, with a historian guide explaining the art and architecture. Next, see the Coricancha Temple, once the most important temple in the Inca Empire. The evening is yours to check out Cusco's restaurants and live music scene.

- Day 5
Cusco
This is your free day to explore Cusco at your own pace. Consider visiting the San Pedro market to practice bargaining or return to Plaza de Armas. Your leader can suggest optional activities like a cooking class at a local restaurant or a half-day trek to the Inkilltambo archaeological site. You might also head to the Sacsayhuaman fortress to see impressive Inca stonework engineering.

Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo
Travel through the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo, passing maize crops and terraced valley walls. Stop at AMA Restaurant (a social enterprise helping single mothers) for a snack. Meet the Willoq community and learn traditional textile techniques in their workshop, even making your own bracelet. Later, enjoy a festive pachamanca lunch with the community. An expert guide then takes you through the Ollantaytambo archaeological site explaining Inca engineering in the aqueducts, irrigation canals, dams and terraces.

- Day 7
Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu
Board the 360 Machu Picchu Train from Ollantaytambo with high domed windows and an open-air observation carriage for Andes views. You'll arrive in Aguas Calientes, drop your belongings at the hotel, then take a bus ride up the winding road to Machu Picchu. A guide explains the ruins and their mysterious history as the believed 15th-century headquarters of Emperor Pachacuti. Return by bus to Aguas Calientes for the evening.

Machu Picchu to Cusco
Head back up to Machu Picchu before sunrise for a second visit. Explore more of the temples, palaces and living quarters against a backdrop of forested mountains. You'll see the mortar-free, earthquake-resistant design and precisely cut stones. After the visit, take the bus back to Aguas Calientes, catch the train to Ollantaytambo, then drive back to Cusco for the evening.
