Spend your first day wandering at your own pace through the granite-paved medieval streets and exploring the riverside. Take time to get a feel for the city's vibrant character before settling into your accommodation for the night.

- Day 2
Porto to Leça da Palmeira
Today you'll cycle about 64 km to Leça da Palmeira on the Atlantic coast, gaining roughly 300 m along the way. The route takes you through beautiful coastal scenery to this charming beach resort town. You can swim in the cold Atlantic waters and visit the famous teahouse by the sea, which sits right on the shoreline.

Leça da Palmeira to Caminha
You'll cycle toward the Portugal-Spain border, passing through Viana do Castelo with its churches, monasteries, and ornate fountains. From there, continue on to Caminha, a charming town sitting at the mouth of the Minho River where it forms the natural border with Spain. Plan to grab dinner at a traditional restaurant to experience Portuguese cuisine one last time before crossing over.

Caminha to Baiona
After crossing the Minho River by boat from Caminha, you'll enter Spain and start cycling along Galicia's coastline. You'll pass through the fishing village of A Guarda and visit the peaceful Ermida de São Sebastião chapel. Later, you'll reach the dramatic 12th-century Mosteiro de Oia monastery perched on the Atlantic cliffs, stop at the Farol de Cabo Silleiro lighthouse for the views, and then reach the Miradouro das Ilhas Cíes viewpoint before finishing in Baiona.

Baiona to Pontevedra
Beginning from Baiona with views over the Bay of Vigo, you'll cycle through fjord-like landscapes and ancient forests. You'll come across small Roman villages and rural hamlets with watercourses threading through them, following the spirit of the Camino. Locals tend to be welcoming to travelers passing through. End your day climbing a small hill to reach Pontevedra, a historic town with lovely terraces and restaurant options.

After that, head through Caldas de Reis, a natural spa town with Roman origins, then continue through rivers and lush vegetation to reach Padrón, a medieval town known for its green peppers.

This is the highlight of your trip. You'll cycle 30 km from Padrón north to Santiago de Compostela, passing the collegiate church of Santa María la Mayor before reaching the city's outskirts. The afternoon is free to explore the old town and visit religious buildings, museums, and historic sites. Later, have a great meal while listening to traditional bagpipe music.
