Mexico City
You'll arrive at your hotel in Mexico City where your Holiday Director will be waiting to greet you and get things organized for the week ahead.
- Day 2
Mexico City
This morning starts with a half-day walking tour through Mexico City's historic centre. You'll see the Zocalo square and the Metropolitan Cathedral, then head to the National Palace to check out Diego Rivera's famous murals. After that, it's on to Chapultepec Park and its castle before finishing at the National Anthropology Museum, which ranks among the world's best. You'll be back at the hotel by evening.

Teotihuacan
You'll head north to Teotihuacan, the 2,000-year-old pre-Hispanic city that's truly something to see. Walking around the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon takes up the morning, and you'll stroll down the Avenue of the Dead while checking out the stone sculptures at the Temple of Quetzalcoatl and Temple of the Butterflies. Lunch comes at a local restaurant, then you'll visit the Shrine of Guadalupe on your way back.

Oaxaca
You're leaving Mexico City and heading to Puebla, passing the snow-capped volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl along the way. There's a stop at Santa Maria Tonantzintla to explore its indigenous temple, then in Puebla you'll visit the Rosary Chapel, Cathedral, and main square. Later you'll continue on to Oaxaca, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its colonial buildings, indigenous traditions, and local crafts.

Oaxaca
You'll start out in the countryside visiting a project where local women create alebrijes, mythical figures believed to bring good luck. Back in the city, a walking tour takes you through Oaxaca's landmarks including Santo Domingo Church with its intricate Baroque interior. After that, you'll explore the Benito Juarez market with its different sections for clothing, flowers, produce, and local grasshoppers.

Salina Cruz
Early in the morning you'll head to Monte Alban, the Zapotec capital founded around 500 AD that once held more than 25,000 inhabitants. You'll walk through the Main Plaza, see the Ball Court, and check out various tombs. Then it's a coach ride through scenic countryside toward Salina Cruz near the Pacific Coast.

San Cristobal de las Casas
You'll travel on to Tuxtla Gutierrez, the capital of Chiapas, where the main event is a boat ride through Sumidero Canyon. The canyon walls reach 1,000 metres at their highest point, and you'll see rock formations plus wildlife like crocodiles, spider monkeys, and various bird species along the Grijalva River. Before reaching San Cristobal de las Casas, you'll pass through the historic town of Chiapa de Corzo.

San Cristobal de las Casas
You'll visit the indigenous villages of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan in the Chiapas highlands, where Tzotzil Maya communities maintain their unique traditions blending pagan and Christian practices. Later you'll have free time in San Cristobal de las Casas to wander through its colourful market, see the cathedral, and visit the Jade Museum.

Palenque
Your journey to Palenque includes a stop at Agua Azul waterfalls, where turquoise water comes from high mineral content in the area. You can take a swim if you like and enjoy the jungle surroundings before continuing through lush forest to reach Palenque.

Campeche
You'll spend the day exploring the Palenque archaeological zone, one of the most important Mayan sites with the Temple of the Inscriptions containing the tomb of legendary King Pakal. The architecture, sculptures, and carvings here are really worth seeing. Later you'll head to Campeche, a charming colonial town with naval history and Spanish baroque buildings that you'll tour from the coach.

Merida
On the way to Merida you'll stop at Uxmal, meaning 'built three times', a UNESCO World Heritage Site showing the Puuc architectural style. You'll see the Magician Pyramid, Quadrangle of the Nuns, Governor's Palace, and the ballgame court. Then you'll reach Merida, the 'White City' founded in 1542 and Yucatan's capital, where you'll get a panoramic tour showing off the strong Mayan heritage, architecture, parks, and food culture.

You'll stop at Chichen Itza on the way to Cancun. This was one of the largest and most prominent Maya cities on the Yucatan peninsula and was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. You'll see the Temple of Kukulkan, Platform of the Skulls, and Sacred Cenote before heading on to Cancun.

You have a relaxing day in Cancun with turquoise waters and white sandy beaches. You'll wake to a Caribbean sunrise, have a leisurely breakfast, and then lounge on the beach under the palms. After a refreshing swim in the clear water, you can soak up the tropical sun, and when evening comes you'll toast to the sunset with a drink.
