Asked on July 30th, 2025I'm interested in joining one of the 'Sydney to Cairns' tours in November. I was wondering if you could share some information on the age level of the fellow travellers? Is it an adventurous tour with some good activities or rather a boutique tour?
- Via Travel AustraliaOperator•Written August 2025
The general age range of our passengers is 50-70, although we do get travellers either side of this on many trips. it isn't really an adventurous tour but we do include activities such as a K'Gari Island trip, Whitehaven Beach, and Great Barrier Reef trip (snorkelling included but you can diving optional for an additional). There is opportunity to do a short walk in the Noosa National Park, climb sand dune in Rainbow Beach for sunset views and free day in Byron where you could sign up for a surf lesson or sea kayaking if weather permits.

Traveler•Written August 2025I'll probably look for a guided tour with a younger group.

Asked on July 16th, 2025Do you still have availability for this date? And what is the age range on this tour?
- Via Travel AustraliaOperator•Written July 2025
Yes we do have availability. Most guests are aged between 40 - 75. We also carry 75-90 year olds who are 'soft active' & mobile and 20 - 40 year old travellers, who want an authentic trip, with quality accommodation.

Asked on February 28th, 2025What type of vehicle (windows, seats, no. pax etc.) is used for this tour?
- Via Travel AustraliaOperator•Written February 2025
Depending on the group size we either usually use a 16 seater Hiace van or a 24 seater Rosa. Whenever possible we try to have extra seats so passengers can spread out. They're air conditioned with large windows. There's no toilets onboard but we make frequent stops for leg stretching and toilet breaks in between our stops for activities and lunch. We are aware that the travel can sometimes feel long so we do our best to alleviate this. We also have 2 night stays in Byron Bay, Rainbow Beach, Airlie Beach and Cairns to help break up the journey and we fly from Brisbane to Airlie Beach.

Traveler•Written March 2025What are conditions like in northern Queensland at present due to flooding in the area? Has the Tablelands tour or snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsunday Islands been affected? Is the Kuranda Railway/Skyrail operating?
- Via Travel AustraliaOperator•Written March 2025
Currently all services are operating as normal in Far North Queensland and we haven't been advised of any disruptions to services affecting our travel dates. We did make some itinerary changes to our last tour due to some flooding further down the coast that affected the roads but this isn't an ongoing issue at present. Currently we are monitoring Cyclone that is off the east coast off Australia which may affect south east Queensland and Northern NSW and if necessary we may need to adjust the itinerary a little for the group that has just departed. Our passengers safety is of utmost importance and considered in everything we do.

Asked on October 19th, 2024I am a solo traveller so assume there will be a single supplement for occupancy of a double room, or perhaps there are single rooms available? Anyway what would be the additional cost?
- Via Travel AustraliaOperator•Written October 2024
Yes, you can enjoy the comfort and privacy of your own room by booking a single room (Double bed) for $9,950 (Australian dollars). Or, for $7,990 AUD, you can select to share a twin room for two people. Solo adult travellers are matched with a fellow guest of the same gender.

Asked on September 19th, 2024Is there a extra charge for a single room for the Sydney to Cairns tour?
- Via Travel AustraliaOperator•Written September 2024
If the would like to guarantee their own room throughout the trip from Sydney to Cairns, they do need to book the single option as per prices loaded on the website. Alternatively as a solo traveller they can choose to share with another solo traveller of the same gender at the twin-share rate but obviously they won't have their own room

Asked on July 13th, 2024Is it possible to add Blue Mountains and Sydney sightseeing onto the tour and extend the days? What would you recommend for coming a few days earlier and doing these excursions before the group tour commences? Is there an area or something we learn about aborigines during the tour?
- Via Travel AustraliaOperator•Written July 2024
We recommend arriving a few days earlier into Sydney. We stay in Potts Point at the Holiday Inn to start the tour. It is a great hotel and location so you can walk to Sydney harbour from there to see the bridge and opera house. There are many half day and full day tours you could book to see Sydney and we recommend a day trip to the Blue Mountains too. On our Sydney to Cairns 14 day tour we provide an incredible aborigine experience on day 4 of the tour with the Gumbaynggirr Nation.

Traveler•Written July 2024Do any of the hotels have a spa with massages/yoga? I am thinking about days when we are relaxing and not on any excursions.
- Via Travel AustraliaOperator•Written August 2024
The Crystalbrook Flynn, our Cairns hotel, is the only property we stay at that has a spa onsite. In Bryon Bay there is the opportunity to book a yoga class or visit spa/massage place on the free day. As this is a group tour we are unable to alter the itinerary for individuals.

Asked on July 3rd, 2024I am very interested in this tour as a solo traveler and I would want the single supplement. However, I am a bit concerned about the amount of driving each day since it covers so much territory. Can you provide an estimate of the number of hours driving each day? Just a rough idea, I won't hold you to it exactly!
- Via Travel AustraliaOperator•Written July 2024
On travel days it is generally between 4 - 6 hours travel time although from Airlie Beach to Mission Beach it is a longer day. We do stay for two nights in Byron Bay, Rainbow Beach, Airlie Beach and Cairns. We fly from Brisbane to Airlie Beach (Whitsundays) to avoid that long drive.

Asked on May 1st, 2024I note that there is availability for 5 June 2024 and I am highly interested, however on the tour company's actual website, there is no start date for 5 June 2024. I just want to confirm that this tour is going ahead?
- Via Travel AustraliaOperator•Written May 2024
The 5 June departure was an error and was removed a couple of days ago. The 9 Jun departure is available but I think this customer has been speaking with us directly and probably aware of this already.
