Itinerary
- Day 1
Mexico City
You'll start with a welcome meeting at your accommodation, then head out on foot through the historic centre. Along the way you'll see colorful Day of the Dead decorations, colonial buildings, and street food stalls lining the streets. The walk takes you to Zocalo square where the ancient Templo Mayor ruins sit next to the grand Metropolitan Cathedral. After that, stop by the Art Deco Bellas Artes building and check out Mercado San Juan market where you can try anything from tapas to edible insects. You have free time for lunch, and the rest of the day is open for you to explore however you'd like.

- Day 2
Mexico City to Tepoztlan
You'll leave Mexico City around 08:00 heading to Tepoztlan, a magical town surrounded by dramatic cliffs and believed to be the birthplace of Quetzalcoatl. With a local guide, you'll walk through colorful streets and check out the lively market. Then comes a steep, hour-long hike up to the hilltop Aztec ruins with views of the surrounding landscape. If a gentler pace works better for you, you can explore town on your own instead. You'll also visit traditional Day of the Dead altars to learn what they mean. By early evening you'll head back to Mexico City.

- Day 3
Jamaica Market - Mixquic
This morning you'll go to Jamaica Market to see vibrant flower stalls and beautifully crafted Day of the Dead altars, with food available if you want something to eat. After heading back to your accommodation for a midday break, you'll travel in the afternoon to Mixquic, where the Day of the Dead celebrations are happening. Families are decorating graves with flowers, candles, and offerings while the cemetery fills with music, dancing, and celebration that goes late into the night. You'll experience this joyful tribute to loved ones and then return to Mexico City for the night.

- Day 4
Mexico City
Today you have the day to yourself in Mexico City. After a few packed days, you might want to relax and take things slow. But if you'd prefer more exploring, the city has plenty to offer. You can arrange a group boat trip to Xochimilco locally for an extra cost, where you'll glide along colorful canals on a traditional boat with music and drinks. In the evening, consider joining your group for a farewell dinner to celebrate the trip, and maybe check out some of Mexico City's buzzing bars to try some mezcal.
