Arrival in Negombo
You'll arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and get driven to your hotel in Negombo, a coastal town just minutes away. After settling in, the evening is yours to wander around Negombo Beach, check out the local fishing village, and walk through the fish market to get a feel for how the town operates. It's a nice introduction to coastal life here.

By evening, you'll meet with your guide to sort out what comes next.

Negombo to Unawatuna
An early 6:30 AM start gets you on the road for a scenic coastal drive with several stops along the way. You'll check out a turtle conservation center, take a boat through the Madu Ganga wetlands with mangrove tunnels, see the Mask Museum in Ambalangoda, visit a moonstone mine, tour Galle Dutch Fort, and spot traditional stilt fishermen before reaching Unawatuna by evening.

Unawatuna to Udawalawe
Get up before sunrise for a transfer to Mirissa to do a whale and dolphin watching safari on the Indian Ocean. You'll head back to your hotel afterward to freshen up, then drive through the countryside to Udawalawe in the afternoon, arriving at your nature resort. This sets you up for the safari adventure tomorrow.

Udawalawe
An early morning jeep safari through Udawalawe National Park gets you out spotting elephants, crocodiles, deer, and various birds in their natural habitat. After the safari, you'll visit the Elephant Transit Home to see orphaned baby elephants being fed and learn about how they're helping them. Back at your hotel, you'll have time to rest and think through what you saw.

Udawalawe to Tissamaharama
You'll leave at 5:00 AM heading toward Tissamaharama, stopping at Bundala National Park for birdwatching and a wildlife safari (over 190 bird species live there, including flamingos). In the afternoon, you'll explore the Kataragama Temple Complex and the historic Kirivehera Stupa, both important to multiple faith communities. Later, you'll meet your guide at the hotel to plan the next day.

Tissamaharama to Yala
Starting at 5:00 AM, you'll spend a full day at Yala National Park, one of the best spots to see leopards in the wild. You'll explore forests, grasslands, and lagoons looking for leopards, elephants, crocodiles, and over 130 bird species. There's a lunch break within the safari area, then you head back to Tissamaharama for the evening.

A 6:30 AM departure takes you through misty highlands to Ella at 1,041 meters. Along the way and after arriving, you'll visit Ravana Falls, check out Ella Gap for views, hike to Little Adam's Peak for 360-degree vistas over tea estates, and see the Nine Arch Bridge. Zip lining is available if you're interested. You'll reach your hotel in the cool mountain air by evening.

Ella to Kandy via Nuwara Eliya
Starting early from Ella, you'll travel through highlands to Kandy by way of Nuwara Eliya (known as Little England). You'll see Ramboda Falls, stop at a tea factory and plantation to learn how Ceylon tea is made, walk through Hakgala Botanical Gardens, visit Seetha Amman Temple, and stroll around Gregory Lake and Victoria Park. Then you'll reach Kandy to visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic and catch a Kandyan cultural dance before meeting your guide.

After breakfast, you'll explore Kandy's cultural and natural side. The Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya are full of exotic plants and orchids, then you'll head to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to watch rescued elephants bathe in the river. You'll visit a Spice Garden to learn about Ayurveda and local spices, take a city tour including a gem museum, and catch a Kandyan cultural dance. Evening planning with your guide comes before you relax at your hotel.
