  1. Day 1

    Athens

    You'll be picked up from Athens airport and taken to your hotel. Before the welcome meeting at 6pm, there's time to wander around one of the world's oldest cities. Check out the Archaeological Museum or hunt down the best souvlaki in town. After the meeting wraps up, you'll have dinner with your group at a local restaurant.

  2. Day 2

    Athens to Kalambaka

    Start the day with a local guide exploring ancient Athens. Walk through the Acropolis, see the Propylaia entrance and the Parthenon temple. Then head to the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the largest temple in all of Greece. In the afternoon, drive north to Kalambaka at the base of the Meteora Mountains and grab dinner at a local taverna.

  3. Day 3

    Kalambaka

    After breakfast, you'll head into the hills with a local guide to see the monasteries of Meteora perched dramatically on soaring cliffs. Walk through the ruins of Pantokrator Monastery and Varlaam Monastery, learning about the 11th-century hermit monks who first settled in these hidden caverns. Take a guided hike through lush forest and huge rock formations, then return to Kalambaka in the afternoon.

    Kalambaka to Nafpaktos

    After breakfast, travel to Delphi and check out the Delphi Museum with a local guide, exploring the Temple of Apollo where statues and offerings to the gods were once housed. In the afternoon, visit a local beekeeping family to learn about honey production, see beehives and taste local honey. Continue on to Nafpaktos, a small coastal town on the water.

  5. Day 5

    Nafpaktos to Dimitsana

    After a relaxing morning, drive to ancient Olympia, the site of the first Olympic Games. With an expert local guide, you'll walk through the main stadium, gymnasium, Temple of Hera, Temple of Zeus and other structures. Stop at the local museum to learn more history, then continue to Dimitsana, a medieval village where you'll stay at the Mikri Arktos Boutique Hotel for two nights.

  6. Day 6

    Dimitsana

    Join your local guide to explore the Lousios Valley in the central Peloponnese. Walk to the Prodromos working monastery built into a rock face with views over the valley, where monks offer coffee and Greek delight. Visit the 10th-century Philosophou monastery to learn about its role as a secret school during Ottoman rule. Explore the medieval village of Stemnitsa known for silversmiths and Zigovisti for traditional lunch before heading back to Dimitsana.

    Start at the Mycenae archaeological site, a UNESCO World Heritage site representing important Mycenaean cities. Drive to Nafplion, the original Greek capital, and explore the town at your own pace with your leader on hand. Stop for an ouzo tasting to learn about Greece's national drink before arriving in Athens in the late afternoon. You'll have an included farewell dinner with your group at a local restaurant.

At 6pm, meet your new leader for this part of the adventure and any new travelers joining the group. After the meeting, you'll have a welcome dinner with your new leader and group at a local restaurant.

Visit Ekatontapiliani church (Church of a Hundred Doors) in Parikia, drive past ancient marble quarries to Marpissa to learn about island life from local women, and continue to Naoussa with its whitewashed alleys and Venetian castle.

    Paros

    The day is yours to explore Paros at your own pace. Consider a guided morning hike along the coast starting at a fishing village and winding through some of the island's best beaches. In the afternoon, you have the option to visit nearby Antiparos or relax on one of Paros' many beaches and cool off in the Aegean Sea. Speak to your leader for activity recommendations.

    Paros to Naxos

    Say goodbye to Paros and catch a short ferry to Naxos, the largest Cyclades island with beaches, an Old Town and centuries of Venetian history. Take time to settle in, then regroup in the late afternoon to learn about the town. Walk to the Portara, a giant marble doorway from an unfinished 530 BC temple of Apollo, with a local guide. You'll have a group dinner featuring the island's local cuisine since Naxos is the only self-sufficient Cyclades island with all produce grown locally.

    Naxos

    Drive to Kaloxylos in the heart of one of the oldest olive groves in the world. Tour an olive oil press museum to learn about olive oil's importance to Greek culture and traditional extraction methods. Travel to the village of Galini for a hands-on cooking class with a local. You'll collect fresh ingredients from your host's organic garden, learn about Naxian farming and cultivation, and create a Naxian dish from scratch. Enjoy lunch paired with a tasting of local kitron, a citron liqueur with a 19th-century history.

If you want something sweet, try walnut cake flavored with local kitron, an excellent regional specialty. Your leader is on hand to help tailor a day that suits your interests.

Upon arrival in Fira, the island's capital, you'll be transferred to the El Greco Resort, a whitewashed building in traditional Cycladic style with a year-round swimming pool. The hotel features spacious modern rooms and is close to the Archaeological Museum of Thera. Head out in the late afternoon to catch Santorini's famous sunset.

    Santorini

    Head out on a hike along Santorini's legendary caldera, the result of a massive volcanic explosion that destroyed early settlements and created this geographical wonder. Walk along the northwestern rim passing steep cliff faces with great views, ending in the town of Oia built on a steep slope inside the volcanic caldera. Visit the Symposium Cultural Centre to learn about Greek wine and taste it in traditional cups, then check out a family-run winery to taste different varieties with food pairing.

    The actual trip was great but I would have appreciated more scenery and nature stops rather than just mentions that we were passing them Also I didn’t appreciate our guide stating our driver was paid tip money because it was a premium trip but failed to mention she was also given tip money so all passengers tipped her according to the guidelines set out by Intrepid
