Itinerary

  1. Day 1

Bangkok to Ayutthaya to Kamphaeng Phet

Early morning pickup from Bangkok takes you north to Ayutthaya, the former capital where you'll walk through temple ruins that tell centuries of history. Wat Yai Chaimongkhon, Wat Phanan Choeng, and Wat Mahathat are on the agenda, with Wat Mahathat being particularly striking because tree roots have wrapped around a Buddha head over the years. From there, you'll get out on a traditional longtail boat to see the ruins from the water, which gives you a completely different angle on everything. After lunch, the drive continues to Kamphaeng Phet where you'll check in and have the rest of the afternoon to yourself.

    Start point
9 ถนนราชปรารภ, 10400, Ratchathewi, Bangkok, Thailand (Meeting Point Loby of Hotel. It is recommended that clients arrive a day prior to departure and book a pre night to arrive at the meeting point at least 20 minutes before the indicated time, 07:00)

    Lampang to Chiang Mai

Following breakfast, you'll head to Lampang to see Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, a large Lanna-style temple sitting on a hilltop with walls surrounding it. The naga staircase is steep but worth the effort, and inside you can walk through seven buildings, see the bronze Buddha statue, and check out the golden chedi that holds Buddha's relic. After a local lunch, the drive brings you to Chiang Mai, known as the Rose of the North. You'll have the evening free, so depending on what appeals to you, there's the night bazaar to browse through, a Thai massage to relax with, or an optional traditional khantoke dinner if you want something more structured.

    Chiang Mai

After breakfast, you're heading up the mountain to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, one of Thailand's most important temples with views over Chiang Mai from the top. You can climb the 309 naga steps if you're up for it, or take the included cable car to get there without the effort. Later, San Kamphaeng Road becomes your stop, a 10km shopping stretch where local artisans produce pottery, silverware, lacquerware, handmade paper, sculptures, jewelry, and silk right in front of you in many of the shops. By lunch time you'll head back to the hotel, leaving your afternoon open to rest or do whatever you like.

Inside you can see Buddha statues and several impressive stupas, including a 46-meter golden Lanna-style chedi and a 21-meter Haripunchai-style chedi. From there, you continue south to Sukhothai Historical Park, which covers the ruins of the first capital of Siam from the 13th century. The UNESCO World Heritage Site contains nearly 200 buildings including dozens of temples spread between areas inside and outside the walls and moat. You'll check in and stay overnight in Sukhothai.

You'll visit Phra Prang Sam Yot, an ancient Khmer temple, and the adjacent San Phra Kan Brahman shrine, which people call the Monkey Temple because of all the primates hanging around. Lunch happens at a local restaurant along the way, and then it's the final drive back to Bangkok city center where you'll arrive around 5:00 PM for drop-off.

Great tour , well organised and informative, All days were full interesting cultural activities! We were a group of 6 happy people from different countries and backgrounds. Special thanks to Dum, he really tried very hard to entertain and help us out . Hotel choice was good , but the Imperial hotel in Phitsanulok ,was infested with mouse droppings and dead cockroaches in my room and my bathroom, I wasn’t that happy . Other hotels were good especially Laluna ! Amazing tropical cottages with contemporary design.
