Itinerary
- Day 1
Colombo to Negombo
Your tour leader will meet you at Colombo airport and drive you to Negombo, which takes about 20 minutes. The area has golden beaches and a working fishing community, so there's plenty to see when you arrive. Since the day is unscheduled, you can show up whenever suits you and settle into your hotel. If you get there early, the beach and pool are right there waiting for you. Later in the afternoon or evening, walk along the shore to catch the sunset.

Negombo to Anuradhapura
After breakfast with local Sri Lankan tea or coffee, you'll head toward Anuradhapura. On the way, stop at the Munneshwaram Hindu Temple where you can see detailed sculptures and watch sacred rituals happening. The afternoon brings a jeep safari through Wilpattu National Park, which is known for its leopard sightings. You'll likely spot elephants, deer, and different bird species as you drive past lakes and dense forest sections.

- Day 3
Anuradhapura to Sigiriya
After breakfast, spend time walking through Anuradhapura's important temples like the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi Tree, the large Ruwanweli Seya Stupa, and the Isurumuniya Rock Temple with its intricate carvings. From there you'll head to Sigiriya for a cultural village tour that includes a bullock cart ride, a canoe on a scenic lake, and lunch served on lotus leaves. In the afternoon, climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress (a UNESCO site) which rises 200 meters, see ancient frescoes and old palace structures, and take in the views from the top.

Sigiriya to Kandy
After breakfast, visit the Royal Cave Temple in Dambulla (another UNESCO site) to see hundreds of Buddha statues and frescoes carved into rock. Next, check out the Matale Herbal Garden where you'll learn about healing plants and try some samples. When you get to Kandy, go to the Temple of Tooth Relic by the lake, which holds a Buddha tooth relic and is also UNESCO listed. By evening, there's a cultural dance show with traditional Kandyan dances, drumming, and fire-walking.

Kandy to Ella
Start at the Gem Museum to see Sri Lanka's sapphires and rubies. Then head to Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden, one of Asia's biggest gardens with over 4,000 plant species including orchids and spices. After that, visit a tea factory to see how Ceylon tea is made and sample different varieties while looking out at rolling tea plantations. By evening, you'll take the train from Nanu-Oya to Ella village on one of the world's most scenic train routes through misty hills and tea estates.

Ella to Weligama
After breakfast, explore what Ella has to offer starting with the Nine Arch Bridge, a colonial engineering structure surrounded by greenery. A moderate hike to Little Adam's Peak gets you 360-degree views of the Ella Gap. On the drive to Mirissa, stop quickly at Ravana Waterfall for photos. Once you reach Weligama and your hotel, relax on the beach with a cold drink under a palm tree.

Weligama
Early morning takes you on a whale-watching boat to see blue whales, dolphins, and marine life. In the afternoon, drive to Galle to walk through the 16th-century Galle Fortress (UNESCO listed) with its colonial buildings and streets. Later, take a boat through the Madu River mangroves past small islands where you might see birds and monitor lizards. Before the day ends, visit a Turtle Hatchery Center to learn about sea turtles at different growth stages.

Weligama to Colombo
After breakfast, take a city tour of Colombo visiting the Red Mosque, Gangarama Temple, Independence Square, and Galle Face Green. The city has history going back to the fifth century and there's plenty to see. After that, head to the airport for your return flight, or get dropped at your hotel in Colombo or Negombo if you're staying longer.
