Lugo
You'll arrive in Lugo and get settled into your accommodation, then you have the rest of the day to yourself. The Roman walls here are really well preserved, and there's an old thermal bath complex and bridge to check out if you're interested. Wander around the lively old town, grab some local tapas, and try some Galician wines at whatever pace feels right.

Lugo to A Ponte de Ferreira
Your walking journey starts today along quiet local roads and country paths through peaceful Galician landscape. This is one of the longer stages at 26.5 km, but since the terrain is mostly flat, you can settle into a comfortable rhythm as you walk through farmland and small hamlets. By evening you'll reach the rural village of A Ponte de Ferreira.

A Ponte de Ferreira to Melide
You'll walk through rolling countryside and forested paths heading toward Melide, which sits at the geographic heart of Galicia. Once you get there, you'll join the French Way, the most well-known Camino route. There's a shorter alternative called the Via Romana if you want to cut back on distance. When you arrive, try the pulpo a la gallega, which is Melide's signature Galician-style octopus dish.

Today's a shorter, more relaxed walk taking you through villages like Boente and Castaneda as you continue heading west into A Coruna province. You'll have time to enjoy the surroundings and pick up some local treats along the way before reaching Arzua, a quiet town known for its artisanal cheese.

Arzua to O Pedrouzo
You'll walk through tree-lined trails in the lush Galician countryside on this quiet stage. As your pilgrimage nears the end, this stretch gives you time to reflect and connect with other walkers you've met along the way, and you can think back on everything you've experienced so far. The day finishes in the small town of O Pedrouzo.

O Pedrouzo to Santiago de Compostela
This is your final stretch. You'll pass through Lavacolla and then climb Monte do Gozo, where you'll see Santiago's cathedral towers for the first time. After that, you walk into the city and reach Plaza del Obradoiro, which is where that sense of accomplishment really hits. If you want, you can join the Pilgrim's Mass at noon, then spend the evening soaking in Santiago's spiritual atmosphere.
