Reviews of Small Group tours to Spain
- Journeys: Discover Spain National Geographic Journeys
Great itinerary and spectacular guide but the exclusive dependence on public transportation resulted in numerous instances of "hurry up and wait." The day trip to Toledo, for instance, involved waits of 30-45 minutes at the bus terminal in both directions. Other tours we've been on always had buses rented for such activities, the result being more time at the destination. Yes, I know that those tours were pricier, but for a once in a lifetime trip, a somewhat higher price tag would be palatable.
- Premium Spain
This was a great tour and our tour guide Sergi Corominas was very knowledgeable and a lot of fun to be with.
- Best of Spain
Everything was excellent but our guide Elina was just fantastic. She has superb qualities of leader and manager, extensive and deep knowledge of places we visited including their history, architecture treasures and modern points of interest including local cousin. Every visited town Elina knew as if she has lived in it for years, therefore there was not a single question that was not answered. She was really an awesome leader of our group. Also from the first day Elina could create in the group very friendly and warm atmosphere, which greatly helped us to travel successfully and enjoy each other.
What our customers ask about Spain Small Group Tours
What is the typical size of a small group tour in Spain?
Most small group tours in Spain keep numbers between 8-16 travelers. This size works well for exploring narrow streets in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter or walking through Granada's Alhambra Palace. Hotels like Luna de Granada and Silken Al Andalus in Seville are well-equipped for these smaller groups. According to a recent TourRadar review "The small group size made it easy to get to know everyone and move efficiently through crowded spaces like the Mezquita in Cordoba."
What unique accommodation experiences are available with small group tours in Spain?
Small group tours open doors to distinctive lodging options that large tours can't access. Places like the Hotel Torre del Conde in San Sebastián de La Gomera offer local character while the historic Palacio de los Velada in Avila lets visitors sleep within medieval walls. In Granada the Luna de Granada Hotel puts visitors close to the Albaicín quarter. A TourRadar guest noted: "The intimate hotels selected for our small group allowed us to really feel the local atmosphere."
What is the dining experience like on a small group tour in Spain?
Smaller groups can eat at local spots that can't fit big tour buses. This means trying tapas in Seville's Barrio Santa Cruz or finding a table at historic spots like Casa Botín in Madrid (the world's oldest restaurant) and El Rinconcillo in Seville. One TourRadar traveler wrote: "Our group size allowed us to eat at local gems that couldn't accommodate larger groups giving us a true taste of Spanish cuisine."
How do transportation arrangements differ for small group tours in Spain?
These tours use smaller vehicles like Mercedes minivans or mid-sized coaches that can navigate tight spots where large buses can't go. This means getting closer to key sites in places like Toledo and parking nearer to attractions such as Granada's Alhambra. As one TourRadar visitor shared: "The comfortable minibus could navigate the narrow streets of old towns dropping us much closer to sites than the large tour buses."
What special access do small group tours get in Spain's popular attractions?
Smaller numbers often mean better timing at major sites. Groups might enter the Alhambra Palace before the crowds or visit the Prado Museum during quiet hours. Some tours include private visits to family wineries in Rioja or historic Toledo mansions. A TourRadar review states: "Being in a small group meant we could enter the Sagrada Familia during quieter times and really appreciate Gaudí's masterpiece."
What is the best season for small group tours in Spain?
While tours run throughout the year spring (March-May) and fall (September-November) offer pleasant weather and fewer tourists. These months are ideal for visiting outdoor sites like Barcelona's Park Güell or Madrid's Royal Palace. One TourRadar traveler noted: "We went in October and had perfect weather for exploring plus our small group could easily navigate even the most popular sites without feeling overwhelmed by crowds."
