Itinerary
- Day 1
Shavat-Dashoguz to Darwaza
You'll start early at 7:30 AM and drive toward the Turkmenistan border at Shavat-Dashoguz. The border crossing involves going through formalities at both checkpoints, and you'll cross the 1.5 km neutral zone (there's a minibus transfer available for just 1 USD if you want it). Your Turkmenistan visa gets processed right at the border using your invitation letter. After that's sorted, your Turkmenistan driver and guide meet you and it's a drive out to Darwaza Gas Crater in the Karakym desert. You'll have dinner and spend the night in yurts.

- Day 2
Darwaza to Ashgabat
After breakfast at the yurt camp, you'll drive to Ashgabat and pass by both the Mud Crater and Water Crater on the way. Once in Ashgabat, you'll check into your hotel then head out for a full day of sightseeing. The day includes the National Museum, Nissa (a UNESCO site), Turkmenbashi Mosque, Independence Park, Neutrality Arch, Wedding Palace, Ferris Wheel, Makhtumkuli Park, and the Akhal Teke Horse Stable. Later you'll return to the hotel for some free time before overnight.

- Day 3
Ashgabat to Bukhara
You start with breakfast at the hotel, then drive to Mary. When you arrive, you'll check out the Orthodox Church and walk through the Local Bazaar. From there it's on to Ancient Merw (also a UNESCO site) for sightseeing, and after that you head to the Farap/Alat border point between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Your Uzbekistan driver will be waiting on the other side, and from there it's a drive to Bukhara. You'll check in at your hotel for the night.
