Itinerary
- Day 1
Quito
You'll arrive in Quito, Ecuador's cultural heart situated at the base of Pichincha volcano. Depending on when you land, there's time to walk through the UNESCO-listed old town with its cobbled streets and historic plazas before meeting your tour leader and group at 6:00 PM.

- Day 2
Quito to Mindo
Head north to the Equator Monument where you can stand in both hemispheres simultaneously. From there, you'll see the Pululahua crater, a massive volcanic caldera where about 400 people actually live. After that, descend into Mindo's cloud forest and visit a local chocolate producer to see how cocoa beans become finished chocolate. You'll spend the night in Mindo.

Mindo
This morning involves exploring Mindo's cloud forest by cable car and hiking to waterfalls through thick green canopies filled with toucans and hummingbirds. In the afternoon, you can choose between zip-lining or whitewater tubing, then visit a butterfly sanctuary where giant butterflies land right on your fingers. Stay another night in Mindo.

Landmarks/POIs Mindo Cloud Forest - Day 4
Mindo to Otavalo to Pijal to Otavalo
You'll travel up the Pan-American Highway to Otavalo, a vibrant indigenous town in the highlands. There's shopping for textiles, ceramics, paintings, and jewelry from local vendors in traditional blue ponchos. Next, visit the Sacha WarmiKuna women's project in Pijal to learn traditional textile weaving and cooking techniques. You'll prepare and eat a homemade lunch with fresh ingredients, then return to Otavalo with your evening free.

- Day 5
Otavalo to Cotacachi to Papallacta
Start at the Cotacachi Cayapas Ecological Reserve, walking around the crater and seeing Cuicocha Crater Lake, which sits in an active volcano area. Take a boat to the crater's center to watch volcanic activity bubbling up. Later, explore Cotacachi (famous for leather goods) or relax with local coffee in the plaza. By evening, you'll reach Papallacta's volcanic hot springs to soak in warm water surrounded by Andean mountains.

Papallacta to Cotopaxi to Quito
After breakfast and one more soak in the hot springs, head south on the Pan-American Highway toward Cotopaxi, the world's highest active volcano. Visit the national park's interpretation center, then drive to Limpiopungo Lake for a short walk where you'll see Cotopaxi's nearly perfect cone and watch for local birds. You'll return to Quito for your final dinner (meals not included).
