Itinerary
- Day 1
Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa
You'll start at Londorossi Gate and begin trekking toward Mti Mkubwa Camp, known as Big Tree Camp. This first section takes you through the mountain's lower elevations where the terrain is still relatively gentle. The walk lets your body start adjusting to higher altitude while you move through forest and moorland zones. By evening you'll reach camp at around 9,400 feet/2,865 meters.

Mti Mkubwa
Today is a rest day at Mti Mkubwa Camp. You stay at camp to let your body adjust to the altitude before pushing higher. There's time to walk around the camp area, hydrate well, and eat properly. The mountain scenery around you gives plenty to take in while you recover and prepare for the harder days ahead.

Landmarks/POIs Mount Kilimanjaro - Day 3
Barranco Camp
You'll trek from Mti Mkubwa Camp down to Barranco Camp, moving through different terrain as you descend and then climb again. The path winds through heather and moorland before reaching the distinctive Barranco Valley. You're gaining real altitude now, reaching around 12,950 feet/3,950 meters by the time you arrive at camp.

Karanga Camp
From Barranco Camp, the trek takes you to Karanga Camp at higher elevation. The air gets noticeably thinner as you climb, and the landscape becomes more sparse and rocky. You'll see fewer plants and the terrain shifts to alpine desert. By evening you'll be at approximately 13,600 feet/4,150 meters where oxygen levels drop significantly.

Barafu Camp
Today's trek from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp is your last major climb before the summit push. Barafu sits at about 15,330 feet/4,673 meters and serves as your launching point. You'll arrive with plenty of daylight, giving time to rest, eat a good dinner, and prepare mentally for the early start tomorrow morning.

Uhuru Park
You'll start before dawn from Barafu Camp heading toward Uhuru Peak, the summit at 19,341 feet/5,895 meters. The hike is long and slow due to altitude and the scree terrain. You're climbing from Barafu in darkness with headlamps, moving at a measured pace. Reaching the summit rewards you with the views from Africa's highest point before you begin your descent back to Barafu.

Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
After celebrating at the peak, you start the long descent to Mweka Camp. The trek down from Barafu involves steep scree slopes that can be tough on knees and ankles. You'll move faster going downhill but the route is demanding in different ways. By late afternoon you'll reach Mweka Camp, sitting at 10,065 feet/3,068 meters where the air feels noticeably thicker.

Mweka Gate to Moshi
The final trek takes you from Mweka Camp down to Mweka Gate. You'll walk through forest and vegetation that becomes greener as you descend. After completing the full circuit, you'll get your summit certificate at the gate. From there it's a transfer back to Moshi where your Kilimanjaro adventure officially ends.
