Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Moshi
You'll touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport where the tour team will meet you for the drive to your hotel in Moshi. Once you check in, there's a briefing with your guide and you'll go through your equipment to get ready for the climb. The rest of the afternoon and evening are yours to settle in and relax.

Nalemoru Gate to Simba Camp
After breakfast, you head to Nalemoru Gate where the actual trek starts. The trail moves through thick montane forest, and if you're lucky you might spot colobus monkeys and other wildlife. The incline is gradual, making it an easy first day, so by late afternoon you'll reach Simba Camp and can catch your breath.

- Day 3
Simba Camp to Kikelewa Camp
Today takes you through heather and moorland terrain with nice views looking out toward the Kenyan plains and Mawenzi Peak. You'll stop at Second Cave around 3,450m for a break, then continue on to Kikelewa Camp. By evening you have time to rest and take in the landscape.

- Day 4
Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp
This is a shorter day but the trail gets steep as you make your way to Mawenzi Tarn Camp, which sits at the base of Mawenzi Peak. The alpine desert scenery here is quite different from what you've seen so far, and the afternoon gives you a chance to acclimatize. If you want, there's an optional hike you can do to help your body adjust.

- Day 5
Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Hut
You'll cross the Saddle, that barren area between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. It feels almost otherworldly when you're walking through it. You reach Kibo Hut by early afternoon, and from there you rest and get your gear sorted for the midnight push that's coming.

- Day 6
Summit Attempt and Descent to Horombo Hut
Just after midnight, the summit attempt begins. You'll make your way up the steep, rocky section to Gilman's Point at 5,685m on the crater rim, then push on to Uhuru Peak at 5,895m, Africa's highest point. After you've had your moment at the summit, you head back down to Kibo Hut for a short rest, then continue the descent to Horombo Hut.

- Day 7
Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate and Return to Moshi
The final stretch takes you down through rainforest to Marangu Gate. You'll receive your summit certificate there, and then it's a drive back to Moshi where you can finally relax after the climb.
