It's a good time to grab dinner and settle in before the glacier activities begin tomorrow.

Start early heading to Los Glaciares National Park for a full day at Perito Moreno Glacier. The drive covers 80 km through the Patagonian steppe alongside Lago Argentino, taking you deep into the park. Once there, you'll board a one-hour boat tour to get up close to the massive ice walls and see the brilliant blue ice formations from the water. Back on land, the panoramic walkways let you see the glacier from different angles and heights. Grab lunch whenever you're hungry, then head back to El Calafate by late afternoon or evening.

    El Calafate to El Chaltén

Your drive heads south across the steppe along the turquoise waters of Lago Viedma toward El Chaltén, a mountain village known for serious trekking. The road takes time but the scenery is worth it, and once you arrive, you'll see Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre rising in the distance. After getting settled, the rest of the day is yours to walk around the village, check out the local shops, and prepare mentally for the hikes ahead.

  4. Day 4

    Laguna de los Tres Trek

This is the big trek day. You'll start between 7:30 am and 9:00 am for the 18 km hike to Laguna de los Tres at Fitz Roy's base. The trail goes through lenga and ñire forests with the Río de las Vueltas Valley visible below and Piedras Blancas Glacier in view. After about 1 hour 15 minutes, you hit your first viewpoint, then push on for 45 minutes to Poincenot Camp. From there, cross a suspension bridge to Río Blanco Base Camp, and if you've got energy left, climb the final 500 m (about one hour) to Laguna de los Tres for those iconic views of Fitz Roy reflected in turquoise water. If time allows, head to hidden Laguna Sucia for more panoramic shots. The descent back uses the Laguna Capri trail, and you'll be back at your hotel between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm, tired but satisfied.

The mountain scenery is right there, so you can explore whatever interests you without a set plan. This is your chance to move at your own pace and experience what Patagonia offers on your terms.

Once you arrive, spend your free time wandering the town, grabbing a coffee, or just relaxing after your time in the mountains. This is your last evening in the region, so take it easy and enjoy the views of Lago Argentino.

Customer Reviews

    · May 26th, 2025
My client reported that the overall tour experience was positive and generally well-organized. The hotels were particularly excellent. The tour operators was fantastic. He mentioned that he may have missed some important tours during the itinerary. My client expressed a preference for full-day excursions rather than the half-day tours that were booked and paid for. He noted that the full-day excursions provided a more comprehensive experience, which he felt justified the additional cost. Upon arrival, his pickup time had not been confirmed, and he was unsure whom to contact, resulting in an unnecessary two-hour wait. However, after the first day, the pickup times were more efficiently organized. Additionally, my client observed that there were very few English-speaking guides available. On occasions when the designated English guide was sick or unavailable, he was either required to join a Spanish-speaking guide’s tour or forfeit the excursion altogether.

We had an excellent experience from start to finish. They offered a great selection of hotels, all comfortable and well-located, making my stay enjoyable. The tour options were diverse and well-planned, allowing me to explore key attractions without feeling rushed. One of the standout aspects of the experience was their customer service—responses were always quick, both before and during the tour, ensuring all my queries were addressed promptly. Our guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to go the extra mile to make the experience enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend for anyone looking for a well-organized and stress-free travel experience.
