What people love about Los Glaciares National Park Tours
- Land of Glaciers: El Calafate
It was fantastic. Great experience!
- Treasures of Patagonia
First part of the tour: Los Glacieres Hotel in El Calafate and tour of Perito Moreno Glacier. First of all, the tour guide and bus driver for SayHueque (Sebastien & Daniela) were great. We were picked up as scheduled, the drive was good and safe and Daniela spoke perfect English and gave us detailed information throughout the day. Highly recommend this tour group. The hotel was OK, room mostly clean and comfortable (one of the rooms had a stained bedspread). Breakfast was on the simple side compared to other hotels. Box lunch also very simple. Loved the tour of the Perito Morino Glacier. 2nd part, tour to El Chalten. Did not enjoy the tour company as much. They were nice enough but didn't pick us up in a timely manner. The guide was nice but spoke mostly Spanish on the tour. My husband and I were the only two English people and he barely gave us 5 minutes of instructions. We were supposed to stop at the Park Office for information but they never did stop. The hotel, Pudo Lodge was nice and comfortable. Wifi only available in lobby and still not very good. The box lunch was fabulous. Staff were friendly and helpful. Note that the brochure you have us has some errors in it. We expected a box lunch in El Chalten and had an embarrassing discussion with the hotel about this. It turns out that part of your brochure talks about Torres del Pain and not El Chalten, thus the confusion. I cannot attach the copy of the brochure here but can send it to you if you provide an email address. Overall we were very satisfied with the services of Tourradar and SayHueque. Thank you
- El Calafate & El Chalten Full Day – 5 Days
This is a great tour to get a glance of Patagonia if you have limited time and budget. The third day which is free allows either for relaxation in El Calafate or another adventure. We went to Torres del Paine in Chile which was a long day trip but definitely worth it.
What our customers ask about Los Glaciares National Park Tours & Trips
When is the best time to visit Los Glaciares National Park?
October through March offers the most reliable conditions for exploring Los Glaciares National Park. Temperatures stay between 5°C and 20°C and daylight extends well into the evening. Perito Moreno Glacier shows increased activity during these months while trails leading to Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre remain clear and accessible. The Rochester Hotel in El Calafate provides comfortable lodging during the peak season. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "We visited in February and the weather was perfect for hiking with clear views of the glaciers and minimal wind."
What are the must-see highlights of Los Glaciares National Park?
Perito Moreno Glacier dominates the landscape at 70 meters high and 5 kilometers wide with regular ice calving events. The trek to Laguna de los Tres reveals close-up views of Mount Fitz Roy while Cerro Torre's granite peaks offer challenging climbs. Lake Argentino boat tours pass the towering Spegazzini Glacier. Hosteria Tierra Tehuelche in El Calafate serves as a central base for these attractions. A TourRadar traveler shared: "The Perito Moreno glacier was absolutely breathtaking - seeing massive chunks of ice crash into the water below was unforgettable."
How long should I spend in Los Glaciares National Park?
Plan for 4-5 days to explore the park's key sites without rushing. This schedule allows a full day at Perito Moreno Glacier several days of hiking near El Chaltén to experience Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre plus time for a Lake Argentino boat tour. Hotel Don Los Cerros in El Chaltén and Hotel Las Dunas in El Calafate offer strategic locations. A TourRadar traveler commented: "We spent 5 days and it felt perfect - enough time to see the glaciers and do several hikes without feeling rushed."
How do I get to Los Glaciares National Park?
Flights arrive at El Calafate International Airport (FTE) from Buenos Aires. The Perito Moreno Glacier lies 80km from the airport while El Chaltén sits 220km away. El Calafate and El Chaltén serve as the main overnight bases. El Calafate's Xelena Hotel offers upscale rooms with lake views while El Chaltén features Destino Sur and Hotel Lunajuim. What wildlife can I expect to see in Los Glaciares National Park?
The park's diverse ecosystem supports Andean condors that circle Mount Fitz Roy guanacos roaming the steppes and Magellanic woodpeckers inhabiting lenga forests. Lake Argentino attracts black-browed albatross and upland geese. Near Nibepo Aike Estancia visitors often encounter Andean deer and foxes. A TourRadar traveler shared: "If we were silent and lucky we had great chances of spotting native wildlife like woodpeckers near the trails."
