Bucharest
This morning you'll head to the Palace of the Parliament, one of the world's largest administrative buildings, then wander through Old Town's cobbled streets. After lunch, you'll check out the Village Museum, an open-air site with traditional Romanian village structures showing how people lived in different regions.

- Day 3
Bucharest to Sibiu
You'll drive the Transfăgărăşan Highway early, stopping at Balea Lake (2,000+ meters up) for short hikes and mountain views. By afternoon you'll reach Sibiu to walk its historic Old Town and Great Square. In the evening, you'll see the Bridge of Lies and explore more of the town's Germanic architecture.

Sibiu
After breakfast you'll visit the Jidvei winery for a guided tour and wine tasting to learn their process. Then you'll head to Brateiu village to meet the gypsy community and see their traditional homes and local music. You'll return to Sibiu for dinner at local restaurants or more exploring.

Sibiu to Cluj-Napoca
You'll start at Corvin Castle in Hunedoara, a massive Gothic-Renaissance structure with medieval history. Then you'll go to Turda Salt Mine to descend underground and try the Ferris wheel, mini-golf, and boating on the salt lake. Late afternoon you'll arrive in Cluj-Napoca to visit St. Michael's Church and local cafes.

- Day 6
Cluj-Napoca to Maramureș
After breakfast you'll travel to Maramureş to visit the UNESCO Călineşti Wooden Church. You'll spend time in Breb village meeting local artisans doing woodworking, weaving, and pottery. By evening you'll have dinner with a folkloric show featuring local dancers and musicians performing traditional music.

Maramureș
You'll see Maramureş's most famous sites starting with the Merry Cemetery in Săpânţa, where colorful tombstones have naive art paintings and witty epitaphs. Then you'll visit Bărsana Monastery with its tall wooden church, and continue to Poienile Izei's painted church with preserved biblical frescoes. The evening is free to reflect on the region's culture.

Maramureș to Bucovina
You'll head to Bucovina and join an egg-painting workshop, learning the intricate wax-resist technique traditionally done for Easter. Later you'll visit Voroneţ Monastery, famous for its exterior frescoes and blue color (called the 'Sistine Chapel of the East'). After a traditional dinner, you'll settle in for the night in Bucovina.

Bucovina
After breakfast you'll visit Moldoviţa Monastery with its striking 16th-century yellow frescoes and the famous Siege of Constantinople painting. You'll then see Suceviţa Monastery with vibrant frescoes including the Ladder of Virtue. Both are UNESCO sites. You'll stay another night in Bucovina.

Bucovina to Sighișoara
You'll have breakfast then drive south through changing Romanian landscapes toward medieval Săghişoara. This longer transfer day lets you see village life and different architecture. You'll arrive in the UNESCO town to explore the old citadel, climb the Clock Tower for views, and try traditional Transylvanian food.

- Day 11
Sighișoara to Brașov
After breakfast there's an optional e-bike ride to Apold village through Transylvanian landscapes. You'll then join a cooking class learning to make traditional Romanian dishes with local ingredients, and eat what you've prepared for lunch. Late afternoon you'll travel to Brașov to walk Council Square, the Black Church, and Rope Street (Europe's narrowest street).

- Day 12
Brașov
You'll head into the forests around Brașov for a guided bear-watching tour with a wildlife expert, observing brown bears from a secure hideout. Back in the city you'll rest, then there's an optional nighttime visit to Bran Castle (famous as 'Dracula's Castle') for an atmospheric evening experience before returning to Brașov.

Brașov to Bucharest
You'll drive to Peleș Castle in Sinaia, a German New-Renaissance masterpiece set against the Carpathian Mountains that served as the royal summer residence. You'll tour the decorated interiors with art and rare books. After lunch, you'll visit Cantacuzino Castle in Buşteni and do a wine tasting, then head to Bucharest for the evening.
