- Katie· October 30th, 2024I was in a group of five, at 81 probably the oldest Kiwi Experience participant you've ever had, but had a wonderful time because the group was warm and inclusive. Most of our group was not interested in white water rafting, bungie jumping, or zip lines but we enjoyed the rest. Our guide was friendly, helpful, and knew the countryside very well. I think he threw in a few little extras, lovely trails and viewpoints he had discovered, all close by and all quite wonderful. We enjoyed getting to know each other and parted friends.Show more
- Bilke· April 18th, 2024The tour itself was really nice and some of the extra activities were nice additions. However, the breakfast options were a bit limited if you can't eat yogurt, eggs or onions. The sleeping options were ok so far but no more. It was sometimes not possible to put your luggage in a room with four people without falling over it.Show more
- Zoltan· March 4th, 2024I participated in all the optional activities and the tour became one of the best ever. I strongly recommend to everyone to do everything! Don't save your money if you traveled through half of the globe. The included programmes are not enough, believe me. We saw so many beautiful places, especially in the south island. The bus was comfortable, we put the baggages into a separate trailer. The accomodations varied but all in all they were all good. I'll might come back one day!Show more

Asked on March 28th, 2025Would like to know hotel in Auckland. Also, curious as to why age restriction - activities? Social?
- Kiwi ExperienceOperator•Written March 2025
The accommodation provider we use in Auckland is called 'Lylo'. We have age restrictions as some of the accommodation requires all guests to be 18+. Also, some of the activities such as hiking is not really suitable for children.

Asked on July 6th, 2024We are all in our 60's - the tour said it goes up to age 45 ... is that a hard and fast rule or a suggestion?
- Kiwi ExperienceOperator•Written July 2024
Most of our travelers will be in the 18-45 age group, however we do get travelers that are older than this range. There are a few walks throughout the trip to different view points, waterfalls, etc.,, ranging from 15/25/30 minutes up until 60/90 minutes, as long as you've got a good level of fitness/ability (as we say to all ages!), you're still able to join!

Asked on May 1st, 2024What is usually the average age for the tour departing July 1st, 2024? Throughout the day, we leave our luggage on the bus? What is the longest we need to carry our luggage? Is a carry-on sufficient or backpack is needed? In the included activities, how physically demanding is it?
- Kiwi ExperienceOperator•Written May 2024
The average age of this group is 18-30, most people are mid-20s. Your luggage will be kept on the bus during travels days and then you'll only need to carry it from the bus to the hostel, usually you'll be dropped right outside. The tour is 21 days so you'll probably need more than just a small rucksack or carryon. You don't have to bring a big backpack, suitcases are fine too. A lot of the included activities involve scenic walks which vary between short (under an hour) - long (1h +) on mixed terrain depending on where you are so it is good to have a good level of fitness.
