Following breakfast at Shira 2, you'll head to Lava Tower, the key point on this route. You'll encounter numerous ascents and descents, reaching over 4,600 m (15,100 ft), with sections that feel challenging. Plan to spend 1-2 hours acclimatizing here and having lunch. After that, you'll drop down to Barranco Camp, where the impressive Barranco Wall comes into view. It's steep and imposing, but don't worry about tomorrow's climb, it's a straightforward trail.

Next comes the harder hike to Karanga Camp, featuring multiple ascents and descents, and you'll have warm lunch once you get there. Later, you'll do an acclimatization hike toward Barafu Camp (300 m gain), then descend back to Karanga Camp for the night.

Customer Reviews

  • 6 Days Lemosho Route Mt Kilimanjaro Trekking reviewer 1
    · September 25th, 2025
I recently went on a 7 day hike of Lemosho route with Ibrah and Afrishare. We had an unbelievable experience that I will never forget. There was plenty of communication beforehand to make sure we were well prepared for what we would experience. I forget to get Daimox (I would highly recommend) before I arrived, so Ibrah graciously took me to a local pharmacy to acquire some. The hike itself was amazing. We actually ended up completing it in 5 days instead of the scheduled 7 due to us choosing to go on to the next camps a handful of times. The views were absolutely breathtaking and if you are a stargazer, you will not be disappointed. If it weren't for the cold at night, I could have sat outside and stared at the stars for hours. It was a very physically and mentally taxing hike, but the overall experience was more than worth it. Ibrah and his team were very attentive, and more than happy to accommodate with all reasonable requests (We brought along our own private portable toilet!). I am extremely grateful to both Ibrah and Afrishare for making this such an incredible experience and I would highly recommend others to reach out to them if you are looking for a Kili hike or safari.
