Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakesh to Agdez
Your desert adventure kicks off with a pickup from your Riad, hotel, or Marrakesh airport. You'll drive through the High Atlas Mountains with stops for coffee or tea along the way, then cross the scenic Tizi n'Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters (7,415 feet). The route takes you to the historic Kasbah of Telouet, where you can walk through the old structures and get a sense of how life looked in this fortified town. After that, you'll head to the UNESCO-listed Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, one of the most recognizable kasbahs in Morocco with its terracotta buildings stacked up the hillside. If you're interested, there's an optional stop at the Atlas Film Studios where various movies and TV shows have been filmed. By evening, you'll arrive in Agdez.

Agdez to Erg Chegaga
Departure happens at 9:30 AM as you drive through the Draa Valley, Morocco's longest valley with date palms lining both sides of the road. You'll stop in Tamegroute to check out its famous green pottery and the historic Quranic library, which holds centuries-old manuscripts. From there, continue on to M'hamid El Ghizlane, known as the Gateway to the Sahara, where you'll grab lunch. After eating, you head off-road to reach your luxury desert camp in Erg Chegaga, the sand dunes that make up this particular part of the Sahara.

Erg Chegaga
Following breakfast, you can choose between two activities. The first option takes you on a 30-minute drive to the sacred oasis of Oum Laalag where you can spend time with a nomad family and have traditional tea. Otherwise, you can do a guided desert walk or just relax at the camp itself. When evening comes around, you'll head out on a camel ride to catch the sunset spreading across the dunes. Later, after dinner, there's music and conversation happening around the campfire where you can sit with other travelers or locals.

Erg Chegaga to Marrakesh
After breakfast, you depart between 8:30 and 9:00 AM and travel across varied desert landscape including the dry lakebed of Iriqui Lake, mountain rock formations, palm oases scattered throughout, and Acacia trees. There's a tea or lunch stop in Foum Zguid, and along the route you'll pass through a Berber village that's known for making traditional handmade carpets. You can browse the local shops if you're interested. By evening, you'll arrive back in Marrakesh for your hotel or Riad drop-off.
