- Day 1
Vienna to Brussels to Leuven to Mechelen
Your morning flight gets you from Vienna to Brussels, and then you'll drive through Leuven to walk around its medieval old town. The university library and Gothic architecture there are really worth seeing. After Leuven, you'll head through Diest before reaching Mechelen for the night.

Antwerp
Today focuses on Antwerp's history as a merchant center and its art scene. You'll visit the Rubens House first, then walk through the city center squares and streets to see the cathedral and Church of St. James. The former Jesuit church and train station are on your route, and you'll finish at the Museum of Fine Arts by evening.

Mechelen to Lier
Start in Mechelen checking out the cathedral and its iconic tower. You'll see the Margaret of Austria palace from outside, then drive to Lier. This canal-filled town was home to poet and painter F. Timmermans, and you'll wander through its charming painter's corners to get a real sense of the place.

Ghent
Ghent's your focus today with its merchant past and art heritage. Later you'll see St. Nicholas Church and St. Bavo's Cathedral, where Van Eyck's polyptych is on display.

West Flanders to Bruges
This day takes you through West Flanders starting with Oudenaarde and its beautiful town hall. From there you'll reach Ypres to see its reconstructed medieval cloth hall, now the Flanders Fields Museum. Veurne comes next with its distinctive stepped gabled houses, then you'll stop in Ostend to walk from Leopold Park to the seaside promenade before arriving in Bruges.

You'll spend today in Bruges exploring this well-preserved medieval city. The day includes tours of the city center and visits to the Memling Museum in St. Jan-Hospitaale, Groeninge Museum, Gruuthuse mansion, Salvator Cathedral, and the Church of Our Lady. There's plenty to see and the compact layout makes it manageable.

Your final day starts at Gaasbeck country castle to see its architecture and art collection, then a quick stop at Berseel Castle. After that you'll drive through the Waterloo battlefields visiting the museum and Lion Monument. This evening you'll head to Brussels airport for your flight back to Vienna.
