We really enjoyed our hike through the Presidential Range in NH. The trip was well organized and the our guide Sean was excellent! We could not have asked for a better guide. He was very informative on what to expect each day as well as extremely patient with all of us. We learned so much from him as we travelled from mountain to mountain and would highly recommend Sean and Wildland Trekking if considering a hiking trip. Sean - we can't thank you enough for making our hike a such wonderful and memorable experience and one that we will always remember.

Hermit Loop is only offered September 15th through May 15th. Trail maintenance and water availability are issues during the summer for Hermit Loop and other non-Rim to Rim backpacking trips. We will apply for July permits for the Rim to Rim on March 1, 2025.

How would you describe the effort required by each hiker? I am 80yrs and in good shape should I be concerned? What are we expected to carry? How much time and effort required going up or down? Time between breaks? How many people per group. Hikers, staff, any animals, vehicles? What is expected of hikers?

    Dave

    Asked on January 17th, 2024

Is there an available single room option?

    Accommodation
    Single supplement
    • Wildland TrekkingOperatorWritten January 2024

For all of our backpacking/camping tours, you will automatically be given your own single person tent to use during the tour. We never ask guests to share tents.

  • S

    Sandy

    Asked on December 7th, 2023

Is there any free single spot in the Hermit Loop Hike tour at any of the April tours? If not, do you have a pool where solo travelers can be collected so you can put us together? I dont mind to sleep in the same tent with someone else who I dont know yet.

    Accommodation
    Group size
    Single supplement
    • Wildland TrekkingOperatorWritten December 2023

There is no single supplement because this is a backpacking tour. The accommodations are rustic campsites and guests must carry all of their gear, about 35-40lbs, for the duration of the trip.

    • Wildland TrekkingOperatorWritten December 2023

As a solo hiker, you would have your own tent and be put in a group with 4 other hikers and 1 guide. We will not know about availability for any of our April backpacking trips in the Grand Canyon until January 1, 2024. The National Park issues permits and we have to wait for that process to finish.

Do I need a grand canyon permit to join?

We secure the permits for all Grand Canyon backpack tours so guests do not also need to secure a permit.
