- Lou· August 19th, 2024We really enjoyed our hike through the Presidential Range in NH. The trip was well organized and the our guide Sean was excellent! We could not have asked for a better guide. He was very informative on what to expect each day as well as extremely patient with all of us. We learned so much from him as we travelled from mountain to mountain and would highly recommend Sean and Wildland Trekking if considering a hiking trip. Sean - we can't thank you enough for making our hike a such wonderful and memorable experience and one that we will always remember.Show more

Asked on November 3rd, 2024Are there dates available for July 2025?
- Wildland TrekkingOperator•Written November 2024
Hermit Loop is only offered September 15th through May 15th. Trail maintenance and water availability are issues during the summer for Hermit Loop and other non-Rim to Rim backpacking trips. We will apply for July permits for the Rim to Rim on March 1, 2025.

Asked on February 6th, 2024How would you describe the effort required by each hiker? I am 80yrs and in good shape should I be concerned? What are we expected to carry? How much time and effort required going up or down? Time between breaks? How many people per group. Hikers, staff, any animals, vehicles? What is expected of hikers?
- Wildland TrekkingOperator•Written February 2024
This trip required guests to carry 35-40lbs for the duration of the trip. There is no support from porters or animals. Day 1: Hike Down Hermit Trail to Hermit Creek. 8.5 miles with 3740 feet of descending. Day 2: Hike to Monument Creek on Tonto Trail. 3.5 miles with ~500 feet of ascending and descending. Day 3: Day Hike down Monument Creek to Granite Rapids and back. 3 miles. 650 feet of descending and ascending. Day 4: Hike out to trailhead from Monument Creek. 9.3 miles with 3,645 feet of ascending. You will need to carry all of your gear and a portion of the group's food, fuel, utensils etc. You will need to set up your own tent. The guide will prepare the food.

Asked on January 17th, 2024Is there an available single room option?
- Wildland TrekkingOperator•Written January 2024
For all of our backpacking/camping tours, you will automatically be given your own single person tent to use during the tour. We never ask guests to share tents.

Asked on December 7th, 2023Is there any free single spot in the Hermit Loop Hike tour at any of the April tours? If not, do you have a pool where solo travelers can be collected so you can put us together? I dont mind to sleep in the same tent with someone else who I dont know yet.
- Wildland TrekkingOperator•Written December 2023
There is no single supplement because this is a backpacking tour. The accommodations are rustic campsites and guests must carry all of their gear, about 35-40lbs, for the duration of the trip.
- Wildland TrekkingOperator•Written December 2023
As a solo hiker, you would have your own tent and be put in a group with 4 other hikers and 1 guide. We will not know about availability for any of our April backpacking trips in the Grand Canyon until January 1, 2024. The National Park issues permits and we have to wait for that process to finish.

Asked on February 28th, 2022Do I need a grand canyon permit to join?
- Wildland TrekkingOperator•Written March 2022
We secure the permits for all Grand Canyon backpack tours so guests do not also need to secure a permit.
