Amman
This day focuses on Amman itself, where you can see how ancient and modern blend together. The Roman Theater and Temple sit on the old citadel and give you panoramic views across the city. After that, the Archaeological Museum helps prepare you for what comes next on the itinerary. Dinner takes place in a former caravanserai, which keeps things in the traditional style.

Gadara - Pella
Head north to check out ancient Roman cities in this region. Gerasa ranks among the best-preserved sites in the Middle East with its oval forum, temples, and theater all still standing. From there, Gadara sits on a mountain ridge with views toward the Golan Heights and out to the Sea of Galilee. You'll learn about ancient philosophers who lived there, then move on to Pella, a Roman-Byzantine thermal town. Later, grab mocha at a café that overlooks the surrounding landscape.

Mount Nebo - Kerak - Aqaba
Travel south toward the Red Sea and visit important Christian and Crusader sites along the way. Madaba has the Church of St. George, which features a remarkable 2 million-stone mosaic map of Palestine from the 6th century. Mount Nebo offers views toward the Promised Land from its elevation. In Kerak, tour a powerful Crusader castle that sits high above the city where you'll learn about the Crusades period. By evening you'll reach Aqaba at the Red Sea to settle in and enjoy your hotel.

Wadi Rum - Petra
Start with a glass-bottom boat tour to see Aqaba's underwater life without getting wet, then wander through the local souk to pick up bargaining tips. Later, head inland through Wadi Rum's red rock formations and learn about the Jordan Valley's geology. Lunch is traditional and shared with your Bedouin hosts before continuing through red sand dunes in off-road vehicles. By day's end you'll reach Petra, the rock city carved into the cliffs.

Petra
Spend the day exploring Petra thoroughly. Start at the new museum for context, then walk from the Pharaoh's Treasury through tower and cave tombs, past the theater, along the colonnaded street, and into the temple district. Ed-Deir, Petra's largest tomb, looks particularly nice as evening light hits the carved facades. Later in the evening, you'll prepare a traditional oriental dish under guidance at a local restaurant kitchen.

Petra
Continue discovering Petra by hiking to the sacrificial site for good views of the mountain world surrounding the ruins. Descend through the Farasa gorges that are overgrown with gorse and daphne. The rest of the day belongs to you, so explore more of Petra if that appeals to you or spend time listening to Bedouin singing in a tented café. Your guide can suggest a route to Little Petra as an option.

Bethania - Dead Sea
Drive north on the old royal road and cross the mighty Wadi Mujib, which locals call Jordan's Grand Canyon. In Bethania, visit the site where John the Baptist baptized Jesus and dip your feet in the holy water. End your day swimming in the Dead Sea, where the salt content is high enough that you'll float without effort.

Departure from Amman
Head back to Amman for your departure flight to Germany. You'll have time during the flight to think back on your Jordan trip. If you want to add days to your travels, the Dead Sea at the lowest point on earth remains an option for relaxation.
