Itinerary
- Day 1
Estes Park
You'll start with a 10-minute shuttle ride to Gem Lake Trailhead, then hike about 4 miles through Lumpy Ridge. The trail takes you past granite rock formations, and if you're going in fall, the colors along the way are really nice. You'll get good views of the mountains too. After you reach Gem Lake and grab lunch there, the shuttle brings you back to Estes Park. From there, check into your lodging and head out to dinner at a local mountain restaurant to kick off the trip.

The lake sits in a mountain cirque surrounded by flowers and wildlife habitat, so keep an eye out for moose and other animals.
