Itinerary
- Day 1
Agadir to Tafraoute to Tata
Start with breakfast in Agadir, then drive inland through the Ait Baha region heading toward Tafraoute. You'll pass through a Berber village market and make a stop to see the Painted Rocks in Ameln Valley, which are worth the short walk to appreciate the natural pink granite formations and the local artwork. After wandering through Tafraoute and checking out some artisan shops in town, continue on to Tata for dinner and your first night. The drive covers about 240 kilometers and takes roughly 5 to 6 hours total with stops.

- Day 2
Tata to Foum Zguid to Erg Chegaga
After breakfast in Tata, head deeper into the Sahara toward Foum Zguid, about 150 kilometers away. The landscape shifts as you drive through rocky plateaus, dry riverbeds, and small oases with occasional palm trees and old kasbahs visible along the route. Take a break for mint tea in Foum Zguid once you arrive, then switch to a 4x4 vehicle for the off-road portion. You'll travel across rough terrain, past dry salt lakes, and through sand dunes to reach your desert camp by late afternoon or early evening.

- Day 3
Erg Chegaga to M'hamid to Zagora to Ouarzazate
Wake early to catch the sunrise over Erg Chegaga dunes with a camel ride, then return to camp for breakfast. From there, the 4x4 takes you across rocky paths to M'hamid, the last real settlement before the deep Sahara opens up. Spend time walking through M'hamid's historic streets, then drive through the Draa Valley heading toward Zagora. Stop in Zagora to see the famous 'Timbuktu 52 Days' sign and grab lunch at a local spot. After lunch, you'll head north through the Anti-Atlas Mountains toward Ouarzazate, arriving by evening after a long day of about 400 kilometers.

- Day 4
Ouarzazate to Ait Ben Haddou to Marrakech
Have breakfast in Ouarzazate, then drive to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO site featuring hundreds of years old clay buildings used in various films. Walk through the narrow pathways of the ksar and hike up to the hilltop for good views across the settlement. After exploring, head through the Tizi n'Tichka Pass in the High Atlas Mountains toward Marrakech, about 200 kilometers away. You'll arrive by late afternoon and can settle into your accommodation. If energy permits, head out to Jemaa el-Fnaa square in the evening to see the atmosphere and grab dinner from one of the local stalls.

- Day 5
Marrakech
Spend the day in Marrakech's medina with a guide who'll walk you through the narrow streets and various markets packed with spices, textiles, and local goods. Start at the Koutoubia Mosque area, then visit the Saadian Tombs from the 16th century to see the intricate tilework and architecture. Check out Bahia Palace to walk through the rooms and see the courtyards and gardens. Move through the souks to see different crafts and artwork before ending at Jemaa el-Fnaa square, where you can watch snake charmers and street performers while sampling local food.

Marrakech to Agadir
On your last day, take a relaxed morning in Marrakech, perhaps sitting at a café with coffee or browsing through the souks one more time. Then head toward the coast, driving south about 300 kilometers to Agadir through southern Moroccan landscapes. The drive takes around 4 to 5 hours, and you can stop along the way for photos or snacks if you want. Once in Agadir, check into your hotel and take time to rest after your desert and mountain adventure.
