Itinerary
- Day 1
Vienna to Muscat
You'll depart Vienna and head toward Muscat with a connection through Doha. The flight takes you overnight, so you'll arrive in Oman's capital the following day.


- Day 2
Muscat
After landing in Muscat, you'll transfer to your hotel and settle in. Once you're ready, head out to check out the embassy and government district, including a photo stop at the Sultan's palace. From there, the National Museum gives you insight into Oman's history. Later, walk through the Muttrah Souq, one of the oldest markets around. Your evening includes a sunset dhow cruise with dinner on the water.

Muscat to Sur
Start at the Grand Mosque, which features a Swarovski chandelier and handmade Persian carpet. Then head out for a full day of exploration. You'll stop at Quriyat, a traditional fishing village, then see the Bimmah Sinkhole with its clear water. Wadi Tiwi comes next, where you can see the narrow gorge, local villages, and date and banana plantations. By afternoon, you'll reach Sur to see how traditional dhow boats get built, and stop at the Ajay lighthouse. After checking into your hotel, you have the option to visit the Ras Al Jinz turtle reserve in the evening.

- Day 4
Sur

- Day 5
Sur to Nizwa
After breakfast at your camp, you'll visit a Bedouin shelter to learn about life in the desert. Then travel toward Nizwa with a photo break at Birkat Al-Maouz, one of Oman's well-known ruined villages. You'll see the historic Falaj irrigation system, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once you reach Nizwa, the former capital, the afternoon is yours to explore on your own.

- Day 6
Nizwa
Start in Al-Hamra, one of Oman's best-preserved historical settlements, and visit the renovated Bait Al-Safah Museum. Walk around old abandoned buildings and mud houses, then continue to Ghul to see Persian ruins. Later in the day, head to Jebel Shams, the highest point in Oman at 3,009 meters/9,872 feet, where you'll get fantastic views of the 'Grand Canyon' gorges.

Nizwa
Leave early for Nizwa city center, the former capital of the Julanda dynasty. Explore the historic oasis with its domed Sultan Qabus Mosque and fortress tower rising above palm trees. Walk through the centuries-old souq where you'll find Omani daggers, copper, silver jewelry, and handicrafts. Visit Bahla Fort, built in the third millennium BC with Oman's longest surrounding wall, then explore Jabrin Castle with its 55 rooms, ornate doors, and frescoes. On the way back to Muscat, stop at the ancient ruined city of Tanuf.

Muscat to Salalah
You'll transfer to the airport and take a domestic flight to Salalah in southern Oman, the capital of Dhofar province. Situated between the desert and the Arabian Sea, Salalah is lush and green thanks to the annual Kharif monsoon, which can transform the landscape and create waterfalls depending on the season.

Salalah
Visit the old fishing village of Taqah and explore the ruins of Sumharam, an ancient city that was once an important port in the global frankincense trade. Continue to Mirbat, the old capital of Dhofar and starting point of the frankincense route, where you can walk through alleyways with old Omani houses and visit the tomb of Prophet Bin Ali. A detour to Mughsail beach takes you along a hair-pin-bend road toward Oman's western border with views of historic frankincense trees in their natural setting.

Salalah
Start at the Museum of the Land of Frankincense with its Historical Hall and Marine Hall to learn about Oman's maritime trade and rise to power in frankincense. Walk past fruit and vegetable stalls, see the impressive Sultan Qabus Mosque with a photo stop, and view Al-Husn Palace, the official palace of His Majesty the Sultan. Stroll through the old Haffah Souq, known for high-quality incense and traditional Dhofari souvenirs. The rest of the day is yours to spend as you'd like.
