Itinerary
- Day 1
Frankfurt/Munich to Muscat
Your journey begins with a scheduled flight departing from either Frankfurt or Munich, heading south toward Oman's capital. This is your travel day to reach Muscat.
- Day 2
Muscat
Touch down in Muscat this morning with hotel transfer arranged. After settling in and having breakfast, the rest of your morning is yours to relax in your room. In the afternoon, you'll board a 2-hour boat trip from Banda al Rhowda marina that takes you along Muscat's coastline, passing by the historic Mirani and Jalali forts, the Al Alam Palace, and finishing at Mutrah Souq where you can browse local goods.

Jabreen - Jebel Shams
Following breakfast, check out the Grand Mosque in Muscat and then head to the Natural History Museum located in the embassy district. From there, you'll drive to Jabreen to see its fortress before stopping at the UNESCO site of Bahla for photos. Next comes the real adventure as you switch to 4WD vehicles for a mountain drive up to Jebel Shams (75°F/24°C), stopping in Al Hamra to see traditional mud-brick buildings. An optional easy hike in the mountains is available if you're interested.

Misfat - Nizwa
The day starts with a 4WD ride back to Al Hamra to tour a private museum there. You'll then switch back to regular vehicles and head to Misfat, a stone village perched on a steep mountainside. Later you'll arrive in Nizwa for hotel check-in, after which you have free time before visiting the lively Nizwa Souq downtown.

Sinaw - Wadi Bani Khalid - Wahiba Sands
Begin at Sinaw's colorful market where Bedouin women buy and sell handicrafts. From there, drive to Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman's most beautiful oases with lush plants and clear turquoise-green water. Then you'll enter the Wahiba Sands desert where skilled drivers take over in off-road vehicles to bring you to your desert camp for the night.

Sur - Wadi Shab - Muscat
Leave the desert behind and head toward Sur, an industrial city with historical significance. For centuries, ocean-going dhows sailed from here across the Arabian seas, and the shipbuilding tradition still exists today. You'll travel along the coast back toward Muscat with a stop at Wadi Shab where an optional hike is available before continuing to Muscat.

Barka - Nakhl - Ain-Thowarah - Salalah
Head west to visit Barka's traditional vegetable and fruit market and the small Bait Na'aman museum. Continue through the fertile Batinah plain to Nakhl Fortress, which sits dramatically against steep barren mountains. From the old village center, drive through date palm gardens to the hot springs of Ain-Thowarah for some relaxation. Then it's off to the airport for a flight to Salalah, followed by transfer to your 5-star beach resort.

Visit Taqa, an old fishing village with traditional Dhofar houses. Continue to Khor Rohri and see the ancient ruins of Sumharum. Later in Mirbat, the former capital of Dhofar, you'll walk through alleyways lined with old Ottoman mud houses and visit the tomb of Sheikh Bin Ali.

This morning, drive to Al Balid, the ancient export port for frankincense and horses. Check out the frankincense museum to learn about the region's history. Later in Salalah, explore the old town of Al Haffa with photo stops at Shanfari Mosque, Al-Husn Palace, and the Sultan's summer residence.
