- Day 1
London to York
Start your journey in London, then drive north through the countryside toward the Midlands. You'll stop in Stratford-upon-Avon to see Shakespeare's birthplace and walk around the historic market town. From there, head to York where the medieval streets and York Minster cathedral take up most of your afternoon. By evening you'll reach your hotel in Bradford, having covered a lot of ground through the English heartland.

Bradford to Edinburgh
Cross into Scotland by driving north over Hadrian's Wall, then continue to Jedburgh Abbey where you can walk through the 12th-century ruins. The afternoon is yours to settle in. This evening offers a choice: catch a traditional Ceilidh with live music and dancing, or attend The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo if your departure includes tickets for it. Either way, you'll experience something distinctly Scottish.

Edinburgh
Take a guided tour through Edinburgh's Old Town with a local guide who'll point out the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the historic Royal Mile, and Edinburgh Castle perched on the volcanic rock. During lunch break you can grab food anywhere along the Mile. The afternoon is free, so you can either wander on your own or sign up for optional visits to Rosslyn Chapel or inside Edinburgh Castle. If you have energy left, the small village of Torphichen is worth an evening drive.

Edinburgh to Pitlochry
Drive east through the ancient region of Fife toward the coast, stopping in St. Andrews to see its 15th-century university buildings and learn about the town's golf history. Then head inland and north to Pitlochry, a village known for its salmon fishing. You'll have time here to explore on your own, or join optional activities like touring Blair Castle or visiting a Highland farm where you can meet a shepherd and working border collies.

Pitlochry to Inverness
Head toward Loch Ness on a scenic drive through Highland country. Keep your eyes open for any sign of the famous Loch Ness monster. Stop along the shoreline, then continue to Inverness, the largest town in the Highlands. After you arrive, visit Culloden Battlefield where the 1745 Jacobite Rising ended. Learn about this pivotal moment in Scottish history before returning to your hotel for dinner.

- Day 6
Inverness to Glasgow
This is a long driving day through Scotland's most dramatic scenery. Pass by Ben Nevis on the way to Fort William, taking in views of Loch Linnhe as you go. Then drive through Glencoe with its steep mountain passes, and travel along the shores of Loch Lomond where the landscape becomes slightly less rugged. If you're interested, there's an optional cruise to Rob Roy's cave. End the day in Glasgow where you can take a city tour past Glasgow Cathedral and George Square, and opt into a comedy show this evening if you'd like.

Glasgow to Lake District
Drive south from Glasgow toward the English border and stop at Gretna Green, famous for its marriage anvil and the couples who eloped here centuries ago. Continue through small villages with ancient stone walls as you enter the Lake District. At Lake Windermere, you can choose to take an optional boat cruise and ride an old steam train through the valleys before heading to your hotel.

Lake District to Dublin
Leave the Lake District and head to Chester, an ancient walled city where you can walk along 1st-century Roman walls and see the black and white half-timbered buildings stacked in rows called The Rows. After exploring Chester, travel west to the coast and take the ferry across St. George's Channel to Ireland. You'll arrive in Dublin with enough time to settle in and join a Choice Experience at a local gastropub for dinner.

Dublin

Dublin to Donegal
Travel north and west across Ireland through rural counties toward Bundoran on the coast. Along the way, see Boyle Abbey with its 12th-century ruins, then continue to Donegal which sits at the start of the Wild Atlantic Way. There's an optional Shannon River cruise if you want it. Later, cross the border into Northern Ireland to visit Belleek Pottery where craftspeople have been making fine porcelain for over a century. You can watch demonstrations and shop if interested.

Shannon to Galway
Arrive in Galway and spend time around Eyre Square exploring the city's character and history. See Galway Cathedral, then drive south toward the Cliffs of Moher. Stand at these massive green-topped cliffs and look down at waves crashing against the rocks far below. On clear days you might spot the Aran Islands in the distance. The Cliffs are one of Ireland's most visited natural attractions, so arrive early if possible to avoid crowds.

Galway to Tralee
Drive around the Dingle Peninsula, a narrow stretch of land pointing into the Atlantic. You'll pass stone monuments, wild beaches, and green fields dotted with sheep. Small Gaelic-speaking villages and colorful fishing villages line the route. Continue to Tralee in County Kerry where you'll spend the night. If you're interested, there's an optional Irish dance show this evening that celebrates traditional Irish culture and entertainment.

Tralee to Waterford
Start the morning at Blarney Castle where tradition says kissing the Blarney Stone grants the 'gift of the gab.' After your castle visit, drive through Cork toward Waterford. This city is Ireland's oldest, shaped by Vikings and Normans centuries ago. Visit the Waterford Crystal Showroom to see artisans crafting fine crystal, a tradition that's been going on since 1783. Optional walking tours and pub visits are available if you want to explore more.

Board your ferry back to the United Kingdom this morning. After crossing St. George's Channel, you'll arrive in Wales during the afternoon. Head to Cardiff, the Welsh capital, for an orientation tour past the Millennium Centre, the National Assembly, and Cardiff Castle in the center of the city. Optional tours inside Cardiff Castle are available, as well as an evening of Welsh music, culture and comedy if you want it.

Then continue to Windsor to visit the world's oldest continuously inhabited castle. After that, drive to London where your journey ends, completing your tour through Britain and Ireland.
