  1. Day 1

    Amsterdam

    You're arriving in Amsterdam and your ship is ready for boarding by 5 pm. The day is yours to spend however you'd like exploring the city. There's also an optional guided excursion to Zaanse Schans if you want to see the historic windmills and traditional Dutch houses before heading back to the ship.

  2. Day 2

    Amsterdam

    Your Adventure Host has two guided options for you today. You can either take a walking tour through the cobblestone streets off the typical tourist path, or hop on a canal cruise to see the stately homes from Amsterdam's Golden Age. Later in the afternoon there's time to join more optional excursions or wander the vibrant streets and galleries on your own. You'll depart for Nijmegen by afternoon or evening.

    Nijmegen - Arnhem

    Starting in Nijmegen, you can bike through the Ooijpolder Nature Reserve or take a guided tour of the historic city and its 2,000 years of Roman history plus WWII sites. After that, lunch happens during a short cruise to Arnhem. Once there, choose between a guided tour focusing on Operation Market Garden and war memorials with herb and vegetable tastings at a medieval castle, or visit the Airborne Museum of Hartenstein.

    Your Adventure Host offers three choices in Cologne. Take a guided walk through the Belgian Quarter to see the creative side of the city, do a hands-on chocolate museum tour with tastings (5,000 years of chocolate history), or walk past the iconic twin-steepled cathedral. Free time lets you grab a local Kölsch pale lager. Later, local musicians perform live music onboard before you cruise overnight to Rüdesheim.

In Rüdesheim, choose to hike through vineyards with your host, take an open-air cable car to the Niederwald Monument and walk back with Rüdesheimer coffee tasting, or tour the Mechanical Music Museum with coffee. Then you cruise overnight toward Frankfurt.

Later you cruise overnight toward Strasbourg.

    We would like to thank our Statesman Attendee that took care of all our needs in our room 107. He was friendly and did an amazing job, Marisio our waiter served us with the highest respect and friendliness. Over all Avalon have very good staff and always a smile- nothing too much trouble. The ship was so clean, food was spectacular. We had a surprise group of singers Gwen and Charles who brought great entertainment. The other entertainer was amazing. Loved the top deck BBQ. We met lots of new friends aboard. Thank you Avalon for a trip well executed.
