Itinerary
- Day 1
Inverness to Kirkwall
You'll leave Inverness early and drive through the Scottish Highlands, taking in views as you pass Dunrobin Castle and continue to John o' Groats. From there, it's time to board the ferry across the Pentland Firth, which takes you out to the Orkney Archipelago. Once you arrive, you'll head to the Italian Chapel first, then make your way into Kirkwall where you can walk through the Viking Cathedral and wander around the historic streets to get a feel for the town.

- Day 2
Orkney Archipelago
This day focuses on Orkney's ancient sites, so you'll spend time at Skara Brae, the 5,000-year-old prehistoric village that gives you a real sense of how people lived back then. After that, you'll see the stone circle at Brodgar and the standing stones of Stenness. Before heading back to Kirkwall for the night, there's also Maeshowe cairn to check out, which has Norse runic inscriptions carved inside from the 12th century. It's quite a lot of history packed into one day.

- Day 3
Kirkwall to Inverness
You'll start the morning in Kirkwall with time for shopping and visiting the local cathedral if you'd like. Then it's back to the ferry to cross to the mainland. The drive takes you through Caithness and Sutherland, and along the way you'll learn about the Highland Clearances and pass through remote fishing villages. The journey brings you back to Inverness by early evening, wrapping up your trip through the Highlands and islands.
