- MSmarianne· October 29th, 2025We had some unexpected challenges on our tour, the ferry had technical issues and we had to take a later one that couldn't accommodate our bus. We were met by another bus and driver since our tour guide wasn't legally allowed to drive a different bus. Through it all our tour guide Amy was very professional and quickly changed routes, showing us interesting landmarks and places to visit so that we could get the best of our trip. She did a terrific job and made our trip very enjoyable. We stayed at the Helgis B&B that had been arranged for us. It was a lovely place with a very friendly host and delicious breakfast. There was a lot crammed in but it was all amazing and wonderful to see, from the prehistoric sites to lovely views, and time to shop. My accommodation was really good - very comfortable in Grainbank Mews - a lovely place run by a young family, who made me feel very welcome, and made excellent porridge! Every day was packed with sights of incredible natural beauty and ancient mystery like Skara Brae, Ring of Brodgar, and the Stenness Standing Stones. Our guide, Amy D, fit all of our activities efficiently into each day, sometimes expertly rearranging due to weather or transportation delays. When booking a tour with us, you have the option of either Hotel or Bed & Breakfast (B&B) accommodation. All these rooms are private and en-suite, so you will have your own bathroom. Hotels are slightly more expensive and are larger operations that normally have restaurant facilities on sight. B&Bs are smaller more family run guest houses. Double room refers to a room with 1 double bed suitable for 2 people. A Twin room is a room with 2 single beds.

Asked on July 13th, 2024I am really looking forward to joining you for a tour of the Orkney Islands starting from Inverness. I use a tall walker which is 97.5cm high, 65cm long and the width folds down to approximately 35cm. Will you be able to fit it in the luggage compartment or similar place on the bus?

We can carry walkers as long as they fold, which in this case it does, so it can be stored at the back to the bus with the rest of the luggage during the tour. The only thing we would like to know it's the weight as well, as we have a weight limit that we need to stick to, for safety purposes.
