Itinerary
- Day 1
Los Angeles
You'll arrive at Los Angeles International Airport and head to your hotel on your own. Your tour director meets you this afternoon to go over what's coming up.


- Day 2
Los Angeles to Phoenix
The route takes you through Palm Springs, which sits in the desert with its downtown area and golf courses at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains. You'll pass through Indio in the Coachella Valley where the International Date Festival happens, then continue on to Phoenix.

Phoenix to Grand Canyon
Traveling through the Sonoran Desert, you head toward Sedona with its red-rock formations including Cathedral and Coffee Pot. The drive goes through Oak Creek Canyon before reaching Grand Canyon National Park. At the rim, you'll see the mile-deep canyon with its gorges and spires carved by the Colorado River.

Grand Canyon to Page
You enter the Navajo Indian Reservation and pass the Cameron trading post. From there, the landscape opens to the Painted Desert and Monument Valley, those iconic western scenes. Page sits on a mesa above the Colorado River, and you'll have the evening free to relax.

Page to Bryce Canyon
Start with Glen Canyon Dam, the second-highest concrete-arch dam in the country, then check out Lake Powell and its red-rock canyon walls. You'll cross into Utah through Kanab and reach Bryce Canyon with its colorful sandstone spires and pinnacles. Depending on weather, there's a chance to see the night sky.

Head to Zion National Park to see massive rock formations shaped by the Virgin River and natural forces. Later, you arrive in Las Vegas. Before heading to your hotel, there's a stop at the iconic Las Vegas Welcome sign for photos.

Las Vegas
You have the full day free in Las Vegas. There's shopping along the Strip or at designer outlets, casinos throughout the city, and Broadway-style shows. Walking the Strip lets you take in the sights and energy of the place.

Las Vegas to Mammoth Lakes or Fresno
Leaving Las Vegas, you head into Death Valley, one of the lowest and driest places in the western hemisphere. Stops include Zabriskie Point and Furnace Creek Ranch with its visitor center. After crossing the valley floor, you climb into the Sierra Nevada Mountains to reach Mammoth Lakes, a former gold mining town known for skiing and mountain views.

Mammoth Lakes to Modesto
Going through Tioga Pass brings you into Yosemite National Park's scenic landscape. On the valley floor, you'll see El Capitan and Half Dome, the granite formations shaped by glaciers, plus Bridal Falls and Yosemite Falls when weather allows. You'll finish the day in Modesto.

Modesto to San Francisco
An early departure gets you to San Francisco by morning. A comprehensive sightseeing tour covers the Golden Gate Bridge, Union Square, and Fisherman's Wharf. There's an optional City by Night Tour available if you want to explore the city after dark.

The entire day is free to do what interests you. Your tour director can help with suggestions. Options include riding a cable car to Fisherman's Wharf for seafood and sourdough, watching sea lions at Marina, looking out at Alcatraz Island, shopping at Union Square or Macy's, or joining an optional wine-tasting tour to Napa Valley.

You leave San Francisco for the Monterey Peninsula, known for nice homes and beaches. In Monterey, you'll visit Fisherman's Wharf and Cannery Row, then head to Carmel-by-the-Sea to see its small houses, art galleries, and shops. Later you pass through Paso Robles, which has fine wineries, before arriving at a Central Coast town.

You'll reach Los Angeles for a tour covering Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Century City before arriving at Santa Monica, the end of Route 66. Optional lunch on the pier happens before you head back to Los Angeles.
