Rio de Janeiro - Parati
Start in Rio de Janeiro and take in Christ the Redeemer statue from the top. You'll have access to over 50km of beaches to explore during your time here. After that, head to Parati, a coastal village with cobbled streets and a nice stretch of coastline. From there, you'll begin traveling inland toward the Pantanal wetlands.

Pantanal - Bonito - Iguazu Falls
Spend several days in the Pantanal, the world's largest inland wetland. You can spot howler monkeys, giant otters, caiman, and capybara while you're there. Next, move to Bonito where you'll swim and snorkel in clear rivers and lakes, check out caves and sinkholes. Then travel to Iguazu Falls, which spans across Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil.

Paraguay - Asuncion - Trinidad
Cross into Paraguay and spend time in Asuncion, the capital, wandering through bars, cafes, plazas, and museums. After that, continue to Trinidad where you'll visit two well-preserved Jesuit Missions that are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These were founded back in the 17th century.

Uruguay - Salto - Punta del Este - Montevideo - Colonia del Sacramento - Buenos Aires
Cross into Uruguay and visit Salto, checking out nearby hot springs. Then reach Punta del Este to see the famous 'La Mano' sculpture and the beaches. Walk through Montevideo's colonial and art deco architecture, browse local markets. Later, head to Colonia del Sacramento, a historic UNESCO World Heritage town with colonial streets and 17th-century buildings. Take a ferry across the Rio de la Plata to Argentina and Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires
Spend time in Buenos Aires trying the local steaks and fine wines. You can experience tango dancing, grab ice cream around the city, and explore the vibrant nightlife. The capital has a distinctly European feel mixed with South American character throughout.

Buenos Aires - Pampas - Puerto Madryn - Tierra del Fuego - Ushuaia
Leave Buenos Aires and travel through the vast Pampas grasslands where you can see gaucho culture. Head along Patagonia's Atlantic coast to Puerto Madryn, a Welsh settlement area. From there, take a ferry to Tierra del Fuego and visit Ushuaia, the world's southernmost town, with views of the Beagle Channel and snow-capped peaks surrounding it.

Cross back into Chile and arrive at Puerto Natales on the coast. Base yourself here and explore Torres del Paine National Park with its dramatic granite cliffs. You'll have chances to hike, go horseback riding, or tackle the famous W-Trek multi-day trek.

Los Glaciares National Park - El Chalten - Hanging Glacier National Park - Futaleufu - Bariloche - Pucon - Santiago
Visit Los Glaciares National Park to see Perito Moreno glacier, which is almost 200 feet high. Continue to El Chalten, the trekking capital, and do day hikes including one to Mount Fitz Roy base camp. Check out Hanging Glacier National Park, then drive through Chile's Carretera Austral to Futaleufu for river rafting. Head to Bariloche for hiking and nightlife, then Pucon, Chile's outdoor center. Finish in Santiago with Chilean steakhouses and winery visits.

Bariloche - Pucon - Santiago
You'll begin in Bariloche, where the ski slopes and hiking trails give you plenty of options depending on the season. From there, head into Chile's Lake District, driving through small towns and passing those blue lakes with the Andes in the background. The route takes you to Pucon, which sits right in the middle of outdoor activity country, so you can stop here if rock climbing, rafting, or horseback riding appeals to you. After Pucon, continue on to Santiago where the food scene focuses heavily on beef and you can visit Casillero del Diablo winery either in the city or take a day trip to the nearby wine regions.
