Itinerary
- Day 1
Fes to Merzouga
You'll start from your riad or pick up at the airport in Fes, then head south through the Middle Atlas Mountains toward Ifrane. Along the way, there's a stop to see Barbary apes in a cedar forest, which is the main wildlife highlight of the morning. The landscape shifts noticeably as you continue on, and by lunchtime you'll reach Midelt for a meal break. From there, it's a drive toward Merzouga and the desert. Once you arrive at camp, you'll get on a camel for a sunset ride across the golden dunes. After that comes dinner and Berber music around a campfire to end the day.

Merzouga
Following breakfast at camp, you'll spend the day exploring the Sahara dunes and visiting fossil sites in the area. There's time to meet Berber nomad families and learn about their history and way of life. You'll have mint tea with them in their tents and get a sense of their traditions. Lunch happens as a picnic out in the open, then it's back to camp for a shower and to freshen up. In the late afternoon and early evening, you have free time to walk around the dunes at sunset, with dinner and tea waiting for you back at camp.

Merzouga to Boumalne Dades
This day starts early with sunrise over the Sahara, followed by breakfast. Then you'll head toward Boumalne Dades Gorge. Along the route, there's a stop to check out ancient underground irrigation canals built between the 11th and 14th centuries, which really show how clever the Berber engineers were. Continuing through Tinghir, you'll have free time to walk alongside the water through Dades Gorge and see the striking sandstone architecture. The famous 'Monkey Toes' rock formations are visible in this area too. By evening, you'll arrive at your riad and have dinner there.

Boumalne Dades to Marrakech
After breakfast, you'll visit Kalaat Magouna to see the traditional rose festival and explore women's cooperatives where they make natural perfumes. Then it's on to Ouarzazate, known as the 'Hollywood of Morocco,' for a visit to Atlas Studios where films like Game of Thrones and Gladiator were filmed. Lunch happens at Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO site. From there, you'll drive through the Ounilla Valley and over the High Atlas Mountains to reach Marrakech by evening. You'll have dinner at your riad to wrap up the day.
