Could have been better i wish there was better communication on the day tours where subcontracted companies and they provide the names of the companies with the tour guide info. Also the instruction on where to meet and how to use the subway or train when the tour provides the tickets could have been better we nearly missed 2 tours due to getting lost or not knowing where to go. And on our best of Kyoto tour it was basically a japanese tour with 90% japanese language and 10 % english. The best tour guide was Daniel from last tour of Osaka. Our Tokyo hotel only had one small bed for 2 people to share but it was a good location for subway. Our kyoto hotel was bigger with 2 beds but the subway station was a far walk 1 km .

The tour overall was good. We got a package with information about the hotels and the day tours each day. From the other reviews, I figure that it was our responsibility to find our way to the meeting point of each tour. To us, it wasn't a big deal since we have done it in the past. We had some questions which were promptly answered. The hotels were good and well-located. The only minuses of the tours were that in one case we didn't have exact information of where was the meeting place and when arrived we were asked for a voucher, which we never received. There was also miscommunication about the transportation arrangements to Nara. There was contradicting information in the package. At the end, we were advised to take public transportation and ask for reimbursement. The day tours were good. Some had issues including not going to the one of the places indicated in the itinerary. The worse tour was the fish market. We didn't see the value of it.

The organization was very poor. If you are looking for a tour where you do and figure out everything on your own, then this is your option. If you like something organize that at least you can contact the tour guides and that the "operator" doesn't change everything last minute, then this is not your option. You won't be seeing the same group of people in your hole tour, you will need to go in your own to the "meeting points" and with not assistance from the operator. They even change one of the hotels while I was at the hotel checking in. (The staff at the hotel couldn't find my reservation, so after an hour of me being there I started sending messages to the operator and about 40 min later they answer, after waiting for a response, they told me that, I was in the wrong hotel, that they send the address wrong in 3 different times, including package and emails). This is the time that they just ignore my questions about the inside t with the hotel. It was kind of stressful the hole situation with every day tour.

    • Tourist JourneyOperatorWritten December 2024

Airport transfers are optional and are charged extra. The price varies depending on whether you choose a shared or private transfer, as well as the airport. Typically, shared transfers cost between $20-40 USD per person, while private transfers range from $150-200 USD per person. For transportation from the hotel to the train station in Kyoto, guests can use public transport or take a taxi. Public Transport: Kyoto has an efficient and user-friendly public transport system. The price for a one-way subway or bus ride typically ranges from ¥210-¥300 (approximately $1.50 - $2.20 USD) depending on the distance. Taxi: A taxi ride from most hotels in central Kyoto to the main train stations (such as Kyoto Station) typically costs between ¥1,000-¥1,500 (approximately $7-10 USD).
