Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Bangkok

You'll arrive in Bangkok today and head to your hotel for mid-afternoon check-in. This gives you time to settle in, freshen up, and get oriented to the city. The rest of the evening is yours to relax after your journey or take a short walk around your hotel neighborhood.

  2. Day 2

    Bangkok

This morning starts with a private guided boat tour through Bangkok's klongs, the canal system that winds through the city. You'll stop at Wat Arun, known for its 260-foot spire rising above the riverbank. From there, the tour moves to the Grand Palace complex where you'll see multiple palaces and halls including the Throne Hall and Coronation Hall, plus the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Later, you'll visit the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, Bangkok's oldest and largest Buddhist temple, which houses over 1,000 Buddha images and features a massive 49-foot-high, 151-foot-long Reclining Buddha that dominates the main chamber.

  3. Day 3

    Bangkok

You have the full day to yourself in Bangkok with no set itinerary. If you're interested in architecture and design history, the Jim Thompson House tells a fascinating story. Alternatively, a dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya River lets you see the city lit up at night while having dinner. If you prefer morning activity, the Damnoen Saduak floating market gets busy early but offers an interesting look at local commerce on the water. Mix and match activities based on what appeals to you.

During your visit, the guides share individual stories about each elephant and how they've recovered and formed their own herd. You'll observe the animals living in natural conditions within the rehabilitation center. The park also runs tree planting programs and cares for other rescued animals. After lunch at the sanctuary, you'll head back to Chiang Mai, arriving in the late afternoon.

For the final approach to the temple, you can take a tram car or climb the Naga staircase, which has more than 300 steps with dragon-headed serpent railings.
