Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Saarburg

You'll arrive in Saarburg on your own and get ready to board the MS Olympia starting at 4 pm. Before that, wander through the town's narrow lanes and check out the half-timbered houses and colorful fishermen's cottages scattered throughout. The official welcome happens around 6 pm, so you'll have a few hours to get a feel for the place first.

    Saarburg to Trier

After breakfast, you'll head out on a cycling tour toward an oxbow lake on the Saar River. From there, you'll pedal through Luxembourg and pass by Wasserbillig on your way to the Igeler Säule. Later in the afternoon, the route takes you toward Trier where the MS Olympia is waiting. You'll stop to see the Porta Nigra, that massive Roman gate that's been standing there for centuries.

    Trier to Mehring

Once you're done with breakfast, you'll cycle to Mehring, which sits in the middle of the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer wine region and happens to be the largest wine-growing village around. The landscape here is ringed by vineyards, forests, and meadows, and it's the same terrain that Romans were cultivating over 2,000 years ago.

This is where you'll find what's considered the largest Roman wine press ever uncovered north of the Alps, so it's quite a piece of history.
