Itinerary
- Day 1
Playa del Carmen/Cancún to Mérida
Your hotel pickup happens between 8 and 10 am from either Playa del Carmen or Cancun, then you'll drive to Chichen Itza to see one of the major Mayan archaeological sites. There you'll check out nearly 2,000-year-old structures like the Pyramid of Kukulkan and the old observatory. After that, you head to Izamal where you can see the pyramid temple dedicated to the sun god and the large monastery church of San Antonio de Padua standing nearby. Later in the day you drive to Merida and settle in for the night.

- Day 2
Celestún - Campeche
After breakfast you'll walk through Merida's historic center and see the cathedral along with Casa de Montejo. Then you travel to the fishing village of Celestun for roughly an hour on a boat where you can get a close look at flamingo colonies. You'll have time to swim and cool off at the Valdiosera and Venecia freshwater springs. In the afternoon, stop by Hacienda Yaxcopoil before heading to Campeche for an evening tour of the city and its colonial architecture.

Campeche to Uxmal
Morning takes you to the Edzna excavation site, an ancient Mayan city that grew rapidly around 400 BC, where you can see their impressive water management systems. From there you continue to Uxmal, one of the world's most interesting Mayan ruins with finely decorated facades, large terraces, open squares, columns, and archways. If you're interested, there's an option to visit the Uxmal Planetarium. You'll spend the night at a resort near the site.

- Day 4
Uxmal to Valladolid
You drive out to Hacienda Sotuta de Peon to see how sisal was produced in the 19th century. You'll learn about growing Henequen agave and how it gets turned into sisal fibers for making ropes, carpets, and hammocks. After touring the production facilities, you head to Valladolid, a historic city that's still an important stop for travelers crossing the Yucatan region.

Valladolid to Tulum and Return to Riviera Maya
After breakfast you can wander through Valladolid at your own pace and take in this historic city that serves as a key hub for travel across the Yucatan. Later you drive to Tulum to see the impressive Mayan rock fortress that sits right on the coast and was built there for defensive purposes. By afternoon you head back to your beach hotel in Playa del Carmen or Cancun, or you can go to the Cancun airport (avoid booking flights before 8 pm).
