Over at Rio Lagartos Biosphere Reserve you can spot all kinds of birds and crocodiles on boat tours from the village. For something really special head to Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve a UNESCO site where you can explore ancient canals and lagoons by boat from Tulum.
What About Those Hidden Routes Everyone's Talking About?
The Ruta Puuc is this fantastic scenic route that connects several Maya sites each with their own unique architectural style like Uxmal Kabah Sayil and Labna - people love it because you can take your time and really soak in the Mayan architecture. Then there's the Ring of Cenotes near Merida with over 100 of these natural swimming holes perfect for everything from casual swimming to serious cave diving. Adventure seekers absolutely love this route for its mix of activities and incredible landscapes.
