Your flight lands at Mataveri Airport and you'll get transferred to your hotel. The afternoon and evening are open, so you can rest up or start wandering around town to get your bearings.

- Day 2
Easter Island South Coast to Anakena
This full day takes you south along the coast toward Anakena, the legendary spot where the island's founding father first landed. You'll stop at Rano Raraku volcano where roughly 400 moai statues sit in different stages of completion, with some reaching up to 4 meters high and weighing 40 to 60 tons each. A picnic lunch is set up for you at the volcano. The drive covers about 70 kilometers total.

Easter Island Southernmost Tip and Ceremonial Sites
The morning half-day takes you to the island's southernmost point and Rano Kao, a 320-meter-high shield volcano with the largest crater on Easter Island. You'll walk through the sacred city of Orongo and see petroglyphs plus 54 round stone houses that were central to the Birdman cult practice. The views of the Pacific from here are great. After lunch, the afternoon focuses on other moai sites, ancient ahus stone structures, a quarry, and the Tahai ceremonial center where you can see restored statues and learn more about the island's history.
