Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Punta Arenas

You'll arrive at Muelle Prat pier sometime between 1pm and 5pm to check in for your expedition. The ship departs at 6pm, so you'll have time to settle into your cabin and get oriented before heading up for a welcome cocktail. After that, you're off into the Strait of Magellan toward Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. The expedition team gives talks in the evening covering what you'll see on upcoming excursions, so it's good to stick around and learn what's ahead.

    Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Welcome cocktail on board

  2. Day 2

    Tucker Island

You'll sail through Almirantazgo Sound early in the morning and head to Ainsworth Bay. A shore excursion takes you to see Marinelli Glacier within Alberto de Agostini National Park. After that, you're hiking through Magellanic jungle, then getting into a dinghy to cruise around Tucker Island. The main event here is seeing the penguin and cormorant colonies. Keep your eyes open for dolphins and sea lions moving along the shoreline during the dinghy ride.

  3. Day 3

    Beagle Channel

The ship sails into Pía Bay along the north-eastern arm of the Beagle Channel. You'll have a shore excursion to Pía Glacier, which gives you panoramic views of one of the Darwin Cordillera's more beautiful glaciers. Later in the day, you'll cruise through the northwest arm of the Beagle Channel where things get really impressive. This section's called the 'Avenue of Glaciers' because multiple glaciers line both sides of this narrow fjord, making it feel pretty dramatic as you pass through.

  4. Day 4

    Cape Horn National Park

You'll travel through Murray Channel to Wulaia Bay, a historic site where Yámana Indians lived and where Charles Darwin actually stopped in 1833. There's a hike through Magellanic jungle with lenga, coihue, and canelo trees plus lots of ferns leading up to a viewpoint. The afternoon brings you to Cape Horn National Park for shore leave. You'll see the Cape Horn Monument (it's shaped like an albatross) and the famous lighthouse right at the point where the Pacific and Atlantic meet.

    Ushuaia

You arrive in Ushuaia, Argentina's southernmost city, which Magellan's sailors named after seeing smoke from Yámana Indian fires. The region's largest island here blends together history and extreme geography in ways that really stick with you. Disembarkation happens at 8:30am, so you'll want to pack and have your things ready the night before.

Very extensive and interesting program. Catering very good with numerous, very friendly staff. Cabins large enough for the duration of the cruise. Very reasonably priced laundry service. Very pleasant that everything was included except for premium drinks. A very pleasant and reasonably priced expedition cruise.
