- Day 1
Montréal
After picking up your rental car, drive to your hotel and spend the rest of the day checking out Montreal's main spots. Notre Dame Basilica is worth seeing, then wander through the winding old town with its harbor views. Olympic Park gives you a sense of the city's sports history, and Mont Royal offers sweeping views across the entire city from up above.

- Day 2
Montréal to Rivière du Loup
You'll drive about 440 km east along the St. Lawrence River heading toward Quebec City. This is a longer driving day, so consider breaking it up with stops. Trois-Rivières has a historic city center if you want to stretch your legs, or detour to Saint-Pascal to see sites related to French and English heritage spanning three centuries of history.

Rivière du Loup to Edmundston
Start early with an optional whale watching tour on the St. Lawrence River if that interests you. From there, drive through scenic Quebec and stop at Lac-Témiscouata National Park to walk around and see the beautiful landscapes and local villages with their regional markets. By evening you'll reach Edmundston and can explore the New Brunswick Botanical Garden before settling in.

Edmundston to St. Andrews-by-the-Sea
This is a longer stage covering about 350 km as you cross through New Brunswick's dense forests heading for the Bay of Fundy coast. Keep your eyes open for moose, black bears, or brown bears along the way. You'll spot some historic covered wooden bridges that are popular for photos. Once you arrive in St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, take time to walk around this small maritime town.

St. Andrews-by-the-Sea
You've got the day free to explore St. Andrews-by-the-Sea at your own pace. Wander the streets, grab lunch at a local spot, and soak in the coastal atmosphere. If you want something more structured, there's an optional excursion to the Bay of Fundy to look for humpback whales and fin whales from the water.

St. Andrews-by-the-Sea to Digby
Head to the ferry terminal in Saint John and board for the crossing to Digby, Nova Scotia. The ferry takes about 3 hours and covers roughly 105 km across the water. Once you arrive in Digby, check into your accommodation and settle in for the evening.

Digby to Halifax
Drive inland to Kejimkujik National Park and walk through its large forests and around the lakes. After that, head toward the coast and stop in Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its colorful wooden houses and maritime museums. Before reaching Halifax, visit the famous Peggy's Cove lighthouse for photos and great views.

- Day 8
Halifax
Start at the waterfront and head to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic to see Titanic artifacts, then check out the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21. The Citadel gives you nice city views from up high. Later in the evening, explore the charming pubs and restaurants scattered throughout the city.

Halifax to Baddeck
Drive about 350 km north to Baddeck on the Cape Breton Peninsula. This is a longer driving day, but Baddeck serves as your base for visiting Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Take your time getting there and rest up before tomorrow's scenic drive.

Baddeck
Drive the Cabot Trail, a panoramic road that hugs the north coast of Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Plan to stop frequently at viewpoints along the way to capture photos of steep cliffs and wide beaches. The route is windy but the views make it worth taking your time.

Baddeck to Moncton
You'll head back to New Brunswick, driving about 430 km. Stop in Truro around lunchtime and sample fresh items from the market. If you're interested in quirky roadside attractions, Magnetic Hill in Moncton is worth a brief detour to see the optical illusion where your car appears to roll uphill on its own.

Shediac to Caraquet
Visit the Hopewell Rocks to see the dramatic rock formations created by the Bay of Fundy's extreme tidal range, which reaches up to 16 meters. Continue through Bouctouche to see its impressive sand dunes, then drive to the Acadia Peninsula and arrive in the small town of Caraquet. Consider trying fresh lobster for dinner at a local restaurant.

Caraquet to Percé
Drive about 425 km along the coast to reach the Gaspésie Peninsula in Quebec. You'll arrive in Percé, a harbor town with numerous cafés and a beautiful beach promenade for strolling. Find your accommodation and take a walk along the waterfront to get oriented.

Percé
You have the day free to spend how you like in Percé. An optional boat trip goes past Percé Rock and out to Bonaventure Island, which has a wild landscape and large bird population. The island was once the region's largest fishing port and now has excellent restaurants and cafés with a long waterfront promenade, great for an evening stroll.

Percé to Matane
Make several stops on your way along the coast. Visit Gaspésie National Park and the small town of Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, walking around and checking out local spots. After that, drive about 360 km to Matane where you'll spend the night.

Matane to Baie-Saint-Paul
Take the ferry across the St. Lawrence River in the morning. Watch for whales migrating through here during summer months. After landing, travel about 260 km along the picturesque riverbank heading to Baie-Saint-Paul.

Québec City
